Do the Status Audio CB-1 Closed-Back Studio Monitors provide "absolute sonic neutrality and the utmost clarity?"
After many requests, this is my detailed review of the CB-1 including audio tests and analysis.

these headphones may have their shortcomings in terms of specs and measurements but in practice, (if you can forgive the lack of spaciousness or airiness which I noticed as well) what I found is that these headphones are not fatiguing and they also do well with every genre of music. That was almost impossible for me to find with any other pair of headphones and it's why I love these headphones. The only downside is that they dry rot pretty fast especially the earpads and I eventually got rid of them but I plan on getting a new pair eventually.

Thank you so much for this video! I was actually pretty excited to see this review since a lot of people have talked about the Status CB-1 headphones, based on your review, they’re a bunch of better options out there on the headphone market for the price. I personally would also like to see you review another pair of studio headphones made by AKG, the AKG K553 Mkii, they’re a pair of closed-back studio headphones. AKG claims that the K553 Mkii is "the ideal closed-back, over-ear studio headphone for monitoring, mixing and mastering”, and that their low-impedance 50mm drivers provide "strong, accurate, and distinguished bass response, with enough sensitivity for precise sound reproduction on laptops and mobile devices". I personally would love to see those headphones measured and reviewed. Thank you so much for this amazing review!!

The best headphones reviewer 🎉 I'm considering the Sennheiser hd560s.. do you recommend it in comparison with the dt770?

Thanks! The HD560S are more neutral/linear and have a larger soundstage vs the 770, but the 770 offer more low end extension. There is also the consideration of the open-back vs closed-back. Sound isolation may make your decision if you need them for recording or listening in public areas or spaces where noise will interfere with your listening experience. Both are quality sets, so I would say the choice comes down to use case/environment and the sonic profile you prefer. Cheers!

The R2 will have no issues driving the CB1s. You will get plenty of clean volume.

No, these are easily driven from audio interfaces, computers, and mobile devices.

The HD560s destroy the CB-1s, even the ATH-M50x or the MDR-7506 have way better sound quality than the CB-1s.

i was amazed when first heard 560s they are very linear a little bit on bright side and almost in 1000 bucks headphones price rang @@d.g.o4410

The HD560S (and HD400 Pro) are excellent reference headphones in my testing. Sound is of course subjective, but I find they provide more detail in the mids to my ears vs the CB-1.

yes, i agree. plenty of details in all frequencies. Near perfect sound in my opinion. @@askdrtk
