I have an interesting sleep paralysis story. its really short so I just wanted to type it here. One afternoon I woke up from napping in my mom's room. Her bed was too soft so I usually woke up sore the next morning. I opened my eyes and looked around the room as the light from the golden hour illuminated everything. I attempted to get up, but couldn't move. In fact, my entire body from my neck down was in excruciating pain. I'd never felt such pain all over my body. I chalked the pain from sleeping with my neck at a bad angle as I slept. But i dint have any reason for not being able to move a muscle. I heard my siblings and mom laughing in the next room and called out to them as loud as I could manage while lying on my stomach. No one came. I started to cry as I tried to move but couldn't and felt like I had been crushed by a boulder. During my episode I didn't feel anything touch me nor did I see shadows, but I knew I was having a sleep paralysis episode so I expected to see shadow people or whatever. I continued to move, this time starting with my fingers and toes until I could eventually sit up and get out of bed. I opened the door to ask why didn't anyone come to help me while I was calling, but there was no one on the entire floor. I found everyone that I heard laughing and asked if they were downstairs a few minutes ago. They all said no.

I miss Greyhound bus rides to scary stories in the rain. There was something super pleasant about taking a bus ride across the country to stories and then walking the streets homeless and sleeping on the curb or in front a homeless shelter. There's a sense of serene freedom and beauty back with life even though it sucks to be homeless. I got worried I'd be riding the buses for a whole month for years so decided to settle down. My credit card had a snap in it and I was worried the money wouldn't come in.

Yay! It’s a Rainy Night Society day! This doesn’t really matter, but I’ll say it anyway for the interested. Just a comment about story 2 wherein the poor guy died and was subsequently swarmed by ants, or maybe he was still alive when they came, which is definitely possible but absolutely horrible to consider. He may very well have died of MRSA, but he didn’t necessarily have to succumb to it. MRSA is very treatable with proper medical attention and the right combination of meds. MRSA is not a disease, but a microbial infection. Basically, it’s a staph infection that is methicillin-resistant; this means the microbes have evolved in a manner that makes them resistant to many, but not all, antibiotics. The real problem, as with most infections, is it can be lethal, especially to the more vulnerable, if if goes untreated. You eventually develop sepsis and then pass from major organ failure. Not at all nice. Something fairly specific to antibiotic resistant infections is their proclivity to stick around. If the gentleman in the story did get treated at hospital, it was absolutely imperative that he or a care giver destroyed any infected bedding, clothing, or other soft textiles; ideally, this would have been done by burning them. Understandably, however, many of us simply cannot afford to replace the clothes and sheets we just set ablaze, so a hot water wash with special anti-microbial detergent will do. Next, any area in the house used by the patient should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. If the house isn’t disinfected a reinfection is pretty imminent. In the story, the narrator describes the gentleman as a “hoarder” who isn’t especially clean. IRL, it also seems the gentleman lacked personal connections other than his son, so there was nobody to help him go to hospital and then fully disinfect the home. Even if he had many friends and family members, under the circumstances I imagine trying to effectively clean and disinfect the house would have been virtually impossible. I find the gentleman’s story so tragic; not to mention the fact that the set of circumstances in the story fully demonstrate one more horrific way in which the mentally ill suffer at the hands of all of us who should really be doing our best to care for them.
