Жыл бұрынJoe's back again with another Stay or Go, where he goes through a clubs squad to decide whether he believes they should keep, sell or let a player leave on a free at the end of the season.
This time round it's Sean Dyche's Everton, who got off to a flyer with a win against Arsenal but are still firmly in a relegation battle. If his side does stay up, who should they be looking at keeping? Should they be cashing in on a star asset like Amadou Onana? Will long time servant Seamus Coleman finally be let go?

I can’t speak more highly of Onana. His attitude for a 21-year-old is exemplary, and this experience in such a poor team will only put him in better stead for when he moves beyond us. If he does move on in the summer, I wish him only the best. He’s a special talent.

Townsend strikes me as a typical Dyche winger, Benitez used him in that kind of role to begin with and he was creating a lot of chances and putting up decent numbers, I’d keep him if he can stay fit

Also Everton have so many players on silly money and he’s one of the very few who isn’t because he was signed in the summer where they could hardly spend

Branthwaite will be ideal for Dyche. Young, powerful, tall defender who can play LB/CB/RB.perfect squad player who I could see coming on throughout the next season and starting a handful of games

I don't see where he would fit in tho, maybe give him some chances in the lineup over coady but apart from that there won't be many opportunities. I guess he could work in a 5 back against some bigger teams but I can't see dyche doing that

I think Doucoure would do well under dyche, loved the midfield 3 we used vs arsenal. The tenacity was unreal imo, I’ve also always had a soft spot for him haha.

Seamus Coleman's "underlying numbers are weak" because Frank Lampard in the worst manger in the league at setting up a teams defence. Same thing happened at Chelsea until Tuchel came in and suddenly the entire defence was solid. Coleman is still the captain of Ireland and while he has lost his pace and is in decline, in a Dyche team he will be given sufficient cover to allow him to continue to play in the PL

Let's not forget Phil Bardsley was getting consistent premier league minutes under Dyche - Coleman shouldn't be a problem at all for Everton

Problem was Lampard's two man midfield and disorganised pressing up front from the forwards, ends up with the right back needing to cover the entire right quarter of the pitch. Doesn't matter how old you are, its just too much for one player.

No mention of Lewis dobbin out on loan at derby, deserves a chance at Everton next season as he's been outstanding for derby, one of the better creators in league one with his limited amount of minutes, now starting to get the minuets he deserves at derby, definitely keep if you ask me

i have been screaming for everton to sign djed spence on loan because nathan patterson isn't exactly always the fittest of players and the only other option is seamus coleman

Something else to keep an eye on with everton is that they have just signed the Brighton head scout. It looks like they are getting set up (hopefully) to improve the recruitment and (hopefully) find more bargains like Gray.

myko is going no where, he is a fantastic defender. going forward, nothing. but defensively he is genuinely brilliant. made salah look average a couple a games, just look at the arsenal game, saka didn’t get past him once

He definitely doesn’t offer anything going forward, he has to improve that part of his game, he just got run ragged by salah last night. I personally think he’s not good enough for Everton, I’d rather play godfrey at LB now

Gotta say, a lot of this comes down to under performance of key signings. Andre Gomes is a perfect example, he was electric next to idrissa gueye the first season on loan. So good we bought him for 22 mil and thought it was a snip. He looked a Barca player. One or two injuries and management changes later and we don’t see him in the first team, and now he’s on loan at Lille. Same thing happened with Bolasie, a big injury and he wasn’t the same. The fact is though regardless we chose poorly, we took gbamin and Allan instead of Douglas luiz and Bruno guimares. For more money. Says it all.

I think we have to sell DCL this summer - and we need to buy 2-3 new players for the cash. Worryingly though - who is going to sign him? I'm not sure he is worth big money but maybe you get 30m - I'd take it and sell. If we stay up and that is saying something Dyche has a very difficult summer as the squad is so thin and lots of contracts expiring. Great video!!!

i think you should split the keep category into 1st team keep and squad keep. gives a better picture of what the squad needs. and maybe split the contract category into expiring exit and expiring renew EOS the new manager might want them

45 million for Gordon, 26 million Moise Kean due this summer, Pickford will most likely leave so need a decent fee for him. Need to sell also Gbamin, Gomes, Holgate, and Keane. Everton will have funds available to buy players this summer just need to get the recruitment right!!!!

Great video and from a blue to a non-blue you deserve massive respect for the level of insight of which most I 100% agree with. (There's always a 'but'.) BUT I have to disagree with your opinion about the state of the squad if those 13 players (EOC and sold) leave the club. If my sources are correct, that's £45M worth of annual salaries a year out the club. That's huge and is largely driven by the excessive contracts that were given earlier on in the Moshiri era. That's not a disaster, that's a detox, a cleanse, and an absolute FFP godsend for the club. We stay up and recruit sensibly in the summer on reasonable contracts and we are absolutely in a much better spot. Just looking at the CB position for starters, we lose Holgate, Keane and Mina for a combined £270k a week (£14M annually) and replace them with Branthwaite at less than a million a year. Even if we give him a new deal it'll still be a fraction of what we're paying now. Not to mention the fact that we may even get a fee for the latter two as they have another year left on their contracts. 😅

We really need to be keeping the likes of Onana, Branthwaite, Garner, Dobbin, Simms and bringing the likes of Lewis Warrington up through into the senior team. Wether we are able to keep the likes of Onana is a different story all together.

I agree with all your thoughts. I would even accept any money for DCL in the summer to reinvest, I think Pickford and Onana also leave if we stay up or down. If we go down the squad isn't ad thin, yes we loose all the expiry players listed. I think Coleman would stay then. Loaned players potentially return with an opportunity to play, Dobbin, Onyango, Nkounkou, Gibson, Astley, Cannon. We have Price aswell I'm sure there's a few others. These would be relied upon for depth, maybe mid season loan out. But reinvesting money from Gordon, Pickford, Onana would be really important. We can get a back up keeper on a free, young exciting wingers are in abundance so targeting wide players for loans mayve get 2 or 3. Then we need to be wise about first choice signings. If we stay up it would likely be Coady, GK, RB, CM, ST essential. If we go down, we might be looking at a whole new lineup. Virginia, Coleman, Holgate, Branthewaite, Nkounkou, Davies, Garner, Simms with new wingers and another striker. Hard to get back up with that

Massive rebuild for Dyche this summer. There isn’t going to be much money coming in from sales looking at that list (Dellie Allie 😂) but wage saving will be significant. The board are going to be looking at low transfer fees coming in and mid range wages which doesn’t give Dyche much wiggle room unless he goes for unknown risks. Or… the Everton fans have a miracle on there hands and the chairman sells up and new investment comes in to boost Dyches coffers and makes his life much easier and Everton slowly recover and become a force once more.

Although the recruitment has been sub par, looking below the surface I think it's partly just bad luck. Gbamin had 2 career changing injuries in his first 18 months and barely stepped on the pitch. Gomes was very good until his ankle break in Nov 2019, a fair few others who have been good elsewhere and dropped off after a season to be in the shadows. Every window people say we have changed and finally made some decent signings but it's the same every year - a few who are decent and the rest contribute nothing.

We have a few decent younger players comming through such as Stanley Mills so I am not quite as worried. I would look to keep Townsend and Asmir Begović, if we sell Pickford I would want us to go and get another young keeper and Asmir Begović is a solid keeper that can come straight in, and would be more than good enough if we go down. I dont know what happened to Tom Davies, its like he has had his ability to run with the ball trained out of him, during his first season with Koeman he brilliant, talk is Rangers want him, if I was him I would jump at that, he will play every week and would do well in the SPL.

The Board's recruitment strategy was to buy cheap players who were once highly rated but fell off due to injuries. However, some highly-rated players did pick up injuries while at the club, which makes me wonder about the medical team. Simultaneously, allow decent players to leave on free transfers. Any good players have wallowed away at the club or were sold to pay for the stadium. (There is also Niels Nkounkou, who played for Cardiff on loan, getting 18 games; he's only 22 and a possible backup to Mykolenko.)

Dyche now approaching his 3rd game against a Leeds team not much better than Everton.....and Dyche can't work out which players he can rely on to turn up and play...Everton's squad is not only weak physically but are mentally fragile.....i've never seen a worse squad assembled in Prem league history.

Coady has been arguably EFC’s worst player this season. I would be very surprised if he isn’t dropped before long for Mina or Keane. Very surprised he keeps getting pushed as a good move

@@yeet-qi7ys he’s much too passive, consistently plays opposition on sides and never closes his man down. Playing Mina (by far our best defender) over him would see an insane improvement in our defense. I think he’s a great character, but 4 mil could be spend much better elsewhere
