@@jTheDigitalDoctor What is so stupid? Depends on the use you give it... Every system can be hacked if you run the wrong software. I find it stupid to give MS your money every 3 years.
@jTheDigitalDoctor
@jTheDigitalDoctor Жыл бұрын
@@diuco17 I'm an IT Tech for a Fortune company in the USA and I can tell you that Windows 7 is no longer patched unless you pay for Enterprise level support. Since you won't even pay for a new operating system it is doubtful that you will pay for enterprise level support. That said, all vunlerablities in Windows 7 are permanent so hackers know excatly what to exploit so you cannot run the "right software" to secure it because such software does not and will not exist. If you have your system off the Internet you wlll be fine as there are some special case uses for it. However, I find this also doubtful as from your statements it's your primary OS. Continuing to bank or doing other security-sensitive tasks on your machine is not recommended and firewalls don't mean a thing since they only protect you against unsolicited communications and not communications that you initiate. Their are a myrad of reasons why you wouldn't, if you're properly reasoning, as to why you wouldn't want Winodws 7. Unfortunately the general public isn't that bright. I've had to explain these issues to a former employer in the medical field who was later hacked and lost HIPPA PII and is now facing a DOJ investigation into his incompetence. I tried to warn him but he didn't want to spend a few dollars on an new operating system. There is being cheap and there is being frugal and it would behoove you to know the difference. Who knows, maybe you'll be fine, but I doubt it. It's just a matter of time.

@@jTheDigitalDoctor i kind of doubt your such an ''it expert'' if you allready fail at realizing the most important thing here: we dont live in the year 1990 anymore. you talk about hackers exploiting normal people. normal people are not even targets for hackers anymore for years. why on earch should a hacker waste time on ''exploiting'' a random person with a 8-5 job and nothing of value? modern hackers in 2023 target the internet itself, they target servers where the data is stored on, they target big companies who work with said data. data leaks and server breaches is valuable because you get a lot of small data in one go and those huge amount of data is what you can make money with. Norman normie, coming home from work and then watching some show on netflix or playing with the kids is utterly uninteresting and unvaluable as a target. hackers exploiting... what exactly? to see what norman normie watches on netflix or to pay his debt because norman normie does not have money himself?

All we get from Windows updates is slowing down our PCs, resetting settings without our consent and making the system buggy and resource hungry. The only thing preventing me from downgrading to Windows 7 is modern hardware compatibility issues.

see thats something i allways struggle to understand. people allways talk about updates... with security but the fact of the matter is: in 2023. me and you as a private person, we are not even targets for hacks, security breaches, virus or whatnot anymore. that stuff was a thing in the 90s and early 2000s. in 2023, individual norman normie persona are uninteresting and have no value as a target. if you target something today...its the servers and the companies who store data to breach and leak data on a grand scheme. in return however, updates seem to make things worse

If its not broke why fix it? Windows 7 is simple, reliable and user friendly and Windows 11 is anything but that! Why isn't there any outrage among Windows 7 users that Microsoft are pushing us into a corner?!? I know people that still drive 25 year old cars, those cars have served them well and got them from a to b all their lives. I'm sure we won't agree that it would be unfair to force those people to get a more 'advanced car' that they hate using...

Windows 7 user with special applications and old hardware. I will keep using Win 7 until Firefox can't update. I have reconfigured for future dual boot with Win 10. No matter which OS you use backups are your best friend. The types of websites you visit will greatly determine your vulnerability. There is an argument for Win 11 for inexperienced users and an argument for Win 7 with "risk management" for experienced users. My opposition to Microsoft"s telemetry is a significant reason for not "upgrading" and having to "fix" my computer after updates is another. I see a mini PC as a future purchase when my current motherboard quits or becomes too obsolete.

I have an old Windows XP computer that still works. Now I DO SEVERE it from the Internet and NO UPDATES ALLOWED. When Windows 7 came out it deactivated my old apps Microsoft did not like, especially duplication software (movies, videos, music duplication). But also my favorite games, SILENT HILL and old versions of DIABLO work on Windows XP, but NOT on Windows 7 (not properly if they do load up). So I use Windows XP mostly for games and duplication purposes. Like if I want to turn my vinyl records into MP3 so it preserves them and I can carry this music around everywhere I go. XP also plays UNREAL! That game REALLY is ultra cool considering it was made for Windows 98!

i’d definitely recommend linux purely because if you’re dedicated, you can make it look almost exactly like windows 7, which you can’t do with windows 10(unless it’s a version that’s already reached end of service) or 11. and unless you pirate games, steams proton compatibility layer is amazing for gaming on linux, especially for older games (some of which just runs straight up on wine). also, linux will just be way faster and easier to run on your hardware than windows 11. it’ll probably even be faster than windows 7

No true upgrade was possible due to the age of the hardware but no reason existed to maintain Windows 7 with no native encryption or software support (unless you were willing to pay for Enterprise support) I chose the Windows 10 pathway due to it's higher stability index and native Bitlocker encryption. Our network team secured their end by upgrading the firewalls and network segmentation. Indeed and what people seem to base the supposed vulnerability of Windows 7 on is how insecure Windows 10, and by extension Windows 11, are. Although they fail to take into account that many of the exploits for 10 and 11 target features and holes that are only in 10 and 11... and are not even present in Windows 7 to begin with. Also some of the biggest voices shouting about how vulnerable Windows 7 is haven't even used the OS for years anyway, and are basing their bias purely on the hearsay of people who don't even know what they're talking about. It's just become trendy to dump on older operating systems, but in reality is just a smokescreen for people who are sheep and won't admit they feel the need to have the latest and 'greatest' all the time.

@Douglas_Blake I completely agree they just want you to be a sheep and make you afraid so you feel oblige to buy their new repaint system which in fact is worse and worse over the time and mostly based on its predecessor but does not work as intended and finally worse and slower . For me Win7 64 is perfect since more 15 years now and i think it will last a lot more . You just need to make copy on a regularly basis with mirroring disk to avoid catastrophic problem and if you know your system you separate data from system and everything is fine in fact . I only crash two times long time Win 7 and it was my mistake in fact , mostly i will say it's just how you drive your system carefully and you will not encountered major problem that's it !!!

@@FlyboyHelosim Yes I totally Agree. I been using the Windows XP for the 15 years like most other users without 1 single problem with viruses or hacking even when there was such stuff online. I had basic anti-virus and scanning software and no problems. Then like most I gave in and brought windows 7 pro when that OS had been out for 2 years by then because I knew how many huge holes in the OS security it had after it 1st released so I waited until 2 year mark to see those sorted with service pack 1 updates and service pack 2 to plug those holes that lazy greedy Microsoft just left to us poor users to find and report to them to issue a fix. I been using windows 7 pro ( including now as I type ) for many fine years without 1 single problem to do with these so called big news virus or hacking threats. I think all this so called news is from the minions whom work for Microsoft. They make up these stories and then slash them everywhere to scare us users into getting the next overpriced full of more holes rushed out OS so Microsoft can see more millions roll in as silly users rush to upgrade to the next load of rubbish OS again full of holes. Just MS hype to force millions world wide to buy more OS rubbish from the Microsoft company who is so mega rich they could sell a OS for almost nothing and still be worth billions. If they make a demand they can con us into buying anything! and each year their OS are even more to buy than the one before even though the OS is not even beta tested 1st.

Hello from a Win 7 user, I have a good feeling that a lot of home users will upgrade by the end of this year because Steam is ending Win 7 support- it says so on the top of the interface. I already have Win 10 set up on an SSD, I just have to rearrange some SATA cables. Also Google Chrome has already ended Win 7 support, I got that nag going now too. My main reason for not upgrading already is that I hate changing from something so good to something not-so-good. Thanks for the update anyway and have a great day.

Windows 10 and 11 have loads of issues. OK most are concerning Microsoft themselves, and I personally wouldn't use them without installing something like O&O Shut up 10, which stops most of the nonsense, at least until the next forced update, when you have to run it again. I personally hate Microsoft with all their nosiness, but use Windows 10 and 7, mainly because an older PC won't update to Windows 10. Older bios issue that is unbudgable, and unupdateable. When using Windows 7, I use free AV, plus Firefox, and always clear everything after each use. Slightly more awkward than Windows 10, but without all the 10 bloat, I still prefer it in every way. Mind you if Firefox pull out will have to think again. I do use other safety measures, but have never had any infections or malware, since the 7 updates were stopped. Paid stuff is so unnecessary these days, as long as you have some computer sense, no matter what all the YT computer experts try to get us to buy to make themselves some affiliate money.

Honestly this video is just for clicks. Anyone still using Windows 7 already knows what they're doing and have probably already followed the dozens of videos already on the subject. It's become a bit of a dead horse by this point. Just let people use what they want to use, we know the risks. The operating system's extended support has been out for over 3 years now with mainstream support even before that. It's an old topic, no need to keep dragging it up.

Britec09, I am watching this video on September 17,2023 and when I checked my 10 year old Win7 PC , I received 2 updates from Microsoft for Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and Security Intelligence Update for Windows Defender Antivirus for 9-17-2023. So they are still giving some updates over the last few months and my win7 pc is fully patched before they stopped support from Microsoft. I have Firefox 115.2.1esr browser and that is supported until this time next year. Windows 10 ends support in October 2025. I have one PC with Win10 and one with Win7, both are fine to use at home and never had any problem with the Win7pc, Adobe Flash was worse back then. When Win10 ends support in 2025 , then I will decide what to upgrade to, everything is fine for day to day use. HTH

0 antivirus 0 update (just the one required for some peripheral on driver setup), only firefox with ublock origin and noscript + simplewall. I don't think win 10 or 11 is more secured, because they are more widespread and because if you click on the wrong link you are contaminated. this is not related to os version; ublock origin & noscript help a lot to avoid mistake. AV are totally useless since 2010. they don't protect you, if you really want one better get an antimalware, and even now they are outdated.
