I love the concept of radio being the media of choice in Hell, with Alastor championing the original broadcast sensation with Trans-Atlantic delivery and 1930s swagger. Vox starting this song with flashy, profane smugness then getting destroyed with his signal diminished is a beautiful comeuppance. I can’t love this number enough.

I think that's kinda unfair to single out Vox for. All three of them wouldn't be as powerful without each other. Vox still has plenty of power of his own with all the souls addicted to his technology. Just not as powerful as Alastor.

What are porn and influencer-type fashion/consumption that Velvett does. The funny thing is that Vox could have won (that particular battle) if he treated Alastor the way Carmilla did, by barely acknowledging him. Just a ten second mention of how the Radio Demon is said to have joined the (Happy) Hazbin Hotel, and then he could have gone straight to commercial or some super boring news clip. Alastor would have HATED that.

He wouldn't have won the battle that way. Sinners gain power based on the souls they own. The overlords gain a massive amount of their souls from their respective fields. Vox from TV Val from his industry. Camille from her weapon deals. Alastor being the notable exception since he manifest in hell with his massive power. Vox needs to show he is in charge since Alastor is in a similar industry and if Alastor isn't beaten then he takes some of Vox's influence. If Vox just dismissed him then Alastor would just still make his broadcast and take influence.

@@Paztacos I didn’t mean a physical battle or power play for territory. I meant the battle of Vox trying to convince the sinners that Alastor is irrelevant and not competition to the Vees vs Alastor wanting to humiliate his old acquaintance while reminding the sinners that he’s an Overlord who Vox himself is intimidated by (and for good reason). Alastor would have gone back to his broadcasts no matter what, but Vox’s frantic attempts to downplay him gave Alastor the PERFECT way to show off and make Vox even more stressed and paranoid than he was before.

@@Initiallyleothe second alastor started his broadcast the crowd shifted from looking at the tvs in the window to listening to the radio. Vox just disregarding Al wouldn't mean anything, because no one was watching tv anyway. The only way to reclaim the audience was to beat Al. Plus playing something boring would make Alastor's radio broadcast more interesting by comparison. The very last thing tv wants to be is boring.

@@phlpcockrell The only reason Alastor even had time to start his broadcast was because Vox kept going on and on about him. If he’d kept it short, Alastor still could’ve done a broadcast later to re-introduce himself and shade Vox, but it wouldn’t be half the power move that interrupting and crashing Vox’s show was. The sinners were so fascinated because Alastor, who not all of them were old enough to remember, had the audacity to go after one of the Vees directly and made Vox literally blow a fuse.

i like on how detailed the ending and beginning is, vox feels confident at first, after all it has been 7 years and vox thinks he can beat him now. but at the end when all his tvs turn off and he starts buffering.. his confidence lowers, therefore by alastor using his own words against him itll make him enraged and possibly realize that he cant beat alastor still, which means alastor wont be bothered with trying to keep him away from the hotel.

The beginning actually makes it clear Vox barely beat Alastor in a past fight, off what Val says at the beginning here. Alastor is a little weaker than Vox but Alastor is able to keep himself much more composed, which makes anyone the most deadly one in a room if done right

@@Rex_OEDITS true, hell my own theory is that Vox/Alastor had their duel shortly after Alastor turned down Vox’ offer and Vox barely bested him, but Alastor says he’d be powerless without the other Vees to fuck with Vox and also make the public not all for Vox, as a way to weaken him. Vox is very powerful, but Alastor knows how to get under the skin, which with S2 happening there’s a lot to wonder

@@LimeDoesTotalDramaI mean.... the notably mostly off-screen vees get two presumably key reaction shots in the song proper: first appearing hassled and disgruntled during vox's section, upon being approached, then later appearing surprisedly _pleased_ during alastor's section, upon his acknowledgement of them. considering that, we have reason on a meta level to suspect that comment might also have been intended specifically to induce such a reaction, and been the beginnings of an effort to ingratiate himself with them - the two of them have apparently at least acceded to work with alastor as well as vox before, so..?

Yeah its pretty good. My only problem is that its only 8 episodes. Its kind of short for a season. Not much you can do in that time frame. This way season 1 felt a bit too fast-paced for me. Dragging it on for another 8 eps would have been too much, but the 4 needed for 12 or even just 2 to 10 would have made it much better in my opinion.

Not only is this song too catchy for its own good, but the more you listen to it, the more context clues you get regarding what happened with Alastor and Vox. Valentino references "That time he almost beat you", which combined with Alastor saying that he'd turned down Vox's offer to join the Vees, and Vox calling him a coward, tells me this: Vox rose to power about 7 years ago, and wanted to add Alastor to his crew. Alastor refused, and a major fight happened between them as a result. Alastor sees he's losing ground, and retreats, before disappearing. While he's gone for seven years, he makes a deal with either Lilith or another overlord to gain more power, so he's never beaten again. In return, he either has to protect Charlie and the hotel, or spy on them and find out how to destroy them, so that whoever made the deal can take over Hell for themselves. I'm not sure which scenario it will be, but I can't wait to find out more of that juicy backstory!

I think it has more to do with the upbringing. They were competitors for power/influence over the masses and Vox wanted to instead recruit Alastor. Alastor declined. When Vox called him a coward, he was slandering Alastor, but not showing the full picture. Why would vox invite Alastor? This would imply Alastor was a threat that can beat him and Vox believed it. If he did beat Alastor, vox wouldnt feel the need to recruit nor would he be this pissed and feel the need to slander him so or even make a broadcast stating his return if he did beat Alastor. What i think happened was Alastor was 100% winning the power of influence, vox couldnt compete and feared for his life, Alastor however isnt a man who just kills, he tortures and broadcasts it. Vox crossed him and Alastor doesnt want to just kill him. Alastor left for some reason which i believe pertains to Vox by instilling false hope of success but doesnt know truely if he can beat Alastor. After this song, its apparent that even with all the power Vox gained, Alastor is still overpowering his influence and it scares him. He messed with the wrong demon and just pissed him off a second time with this slander/stole his territory. Now Alastor is going to take it back and make Vox fear what will come.

Everything he's doing is for his benefit, but even though his actions are villainous and selfish his character is going to be the heavily favored. What I like about this is that Alister was content just sitting by for a while it wasn't until Vox started telling people not to look at him and look at me. Don't listen to his words they mean nothing. I've been reliable and there for you. Vox is terrified of Alister probably for reasons season two will go more into. As soon as Vox found out Alister was back, he immediately went on the defensive. You don't do that for someone you don't consider a threat.

Vox only believes he is stronger now since sinners gain power with more deals they make, and Alister being gone for so long that he hasn't made any deals with normal sinners in a while. He is trying to get sinners to look down on Alistar so that he can't gain any influence and potentially gain deals.

Some Website said that Mark Hamil that acted in Ultimate Spider-man as Arnim Zola, also voice acted in Avatar the last Airbender as voice actor of Firelord Ozai Zuko's father, was supposed to voice act as Vox in Hazbin Hotel, but change of plans for voice actor of Vox, (if that plan ever was true).
