BLANCHE: Ooh, I bet there were a lot of babies born that year. ROSE: Why, Blanche? DOROTHY: There was a stork invasion, Rose. ROSE: A stork invasion and a pandemic in the same year? What are the chances? SOPHIA: The same as Dorothy getting a date on both Friday and Saturday night. DOROTHY: Shady Pines, ma! SOPHIA: Good luck with that, pussycat. They're on lockdown. ROSE: But Sophia, couldn't you even go outside? SOPHIA: Nope, it was illegal to gather in large groups. ROSE: Just imagine everything that would shut down, if that happened in Miami. BLANCHE: The Rusty Anchor... The Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater... SOPHIA: Your bedroom... BLANCHE: Sophia! You take that back! DOROTHY: She's right, Ma. That would never happen. The Miami Police Department classifies Blanche as an essential service.

I spent half my work shift today thinking about Sophia saying "Picture it: Sicilly, 1922. A young peasant girl............that peasant girl...was me. And that man....was *famous person*" and then the sound of Dorothy slamming in frustration. And now I can get my fix of such quote re-watches thanks to this video.

Iconic. Sophia Petrillo will go down as one of the best female characters in television ever. PS: I'm currently watching Hot In Cleveland with Betty White and it's awesome. Highly recommended.

Thanks for posting. The current situation reminds me of one of the original Star Trek episodes where a planet is about to be destroyed by its sun. Most of the people on the planet have gone to a "library" to pick out a year and place in the past to escape to after they step through a time travel portal. Watching Golden Girls is like traveling back in time when things were simpler and more carefree (less political bickering and less political correctness BS). I would love to go back in time to the 1980s. Even the music was much better then.

I've always thought that Sophia came to Brooklyn as a preteen because pre-teen foreigners can usually change their accents to American but Sophia came to America as a young adult!

Omg I love this channel, and I’m in the process of rewatching the series and had some ideas for compilations! Can you do the best Blanche/Sophia moments or the best Blanche/Rose moments? Like Blanche and Sophia getting scammed in the mall or when Blanche was dating the guy in a wheelchair and pretended Sophia was her grandmother (and Sophia tried doing a southern accent) 😂 And Blanche and Rose had some great scenes like when they danced together!

Yeah her memory was pretty bad towards the end they would refilm her scenes with no audience and cut around her having issues.
