So glad to see Mayor Brandon Scott on the Pod. I was recently (yesterday) watching this podcast with all black male republicans 🙄and they were talking about Mayor Bandon and the criticism he received for wearing a "jacket" to a press conference when the Baltimore Bridge collapsed. Anyway, these actual young Black men said that he didn't look like a mayor. Comments like "he looks like he smokes black and milds" etc. I was furious at these Black men for playing themselves while trying to play him! But I'm glad to see him in this setting speaking naturally! Thanks Amanda! #TheyCouldNeverMakeMeHateYou

Gosh, that's exactly it. When he said that congressman didn't tell ppl how sick he really was. Because he knew if he mentioned it to certain colleagues, they'd come for him(or some would've tried I'm sure). I sort of do the same, I try to speak up in my community, I'm aware bc of my healthcare career, being white, living in a rural area w ppl lifelong who know exactly who everyone is/vice versa but I don't be anyone other than my loud and passionate self and they don't. They do back negotiations, shady dealing behind closed doors, refuse to tell community about details or decisions. Well when I know things, I tell things and that doesn't always make everyone super pleased with me and I get pile on back sometimes in hopes I'll give up bc I'm now disabled and quite sick. They think they can get rid of me, so I don't like to show that I am medically vulnerable all the time. I am though and they need to know it and do the things the community members want and need to thrive and that means all of us. Unfortunately they come for you- over and over again. It's exhausting. Ty to this man, even though very far from my state- does what's necessary and ppl see it. Important for sure. Sidenote I'm sporadic and fragmented bc my health but I'm absolutely spreading this content in my kinda wish I didn't still live here community bc THEY NEED TO HEAR IT. 💯 ❤❤~ EDSzebraOut~ 🦓
