Best capsule hotel ever! In French, the verb "to sleep" is "dormir". The word "dormie" (which is pronounced the same as this hotel's name) means "slept". Perfect name!

I stayed here recently but in the proper hotel rooms! This hotel has a hybrid of both capsules and proper hotel rooms so for those who don't like the capsule style you can still stay here like a normal hotel and use all the facilities like the ramen, the baths and ice cream. In fact, those amenities actually belong to the Dormy Inn chain and you can get it in all their branches, but this branch in Korakuen is special, sharing with "Global Cabin" that takes up one floor for the capsules.

For a capsule hotel room, yes that was expensive but you got tons of amenities for the price! The only thing I don't like about capsule rooms is that you can't lock the door and I cannot relax in a space where I don't feel secure. I guess that's the Westerner in me.

Japan is not a country where you have to worry at all... I am not saying do not be vigilant but you are safer in that unlocked Capsule then in a locked American hotel room. You do know all the staff can enter anytime

I enjoyed it probably as much as anyone else did (visually experiencing the food (breakfast buffet) that is Funny how I used to think this was weird that I have affinity for this kind of thing But after reading comments like yours and others I realize it’s actually not weird but rather normal People may have thought like I did: that was a secret of theirs Now I share it and hopefully it gives others the confidence to share how they truly feel Does that make sense?

Beautiful and luxurious. As an American, the lack of being able to lock your capsule is unnerving to me. It's probably a cultural thing, Japanese culture seems much better about treating others well.

During my first and only time in Tokyo, I stayed at Dormy in Korakuen since it was close to Honbu Dojo. And during my first days, my wife and daughter was with me so we had a large room, but the last 3 days I took a capsule for myself since my family went home. I enjoyed the capsule a lot, the only thing I didnt enjoy, was that there are some time, I can't stay in my capsule during the day, and this was bad.

Here in Butler, PA (close to Pittsburgh) we have had many cases of bed bugs and are very difficult to exterminate When you were showing us the alarm clock I noticed the bed alongside the wall were fabricate-covered cushion Just seeing the fabric that close to the bed made me itch and uncomfortable Bedbugs love getting inside clothes, furniture, they even like burrowing in wooden items to lay their eggs the incubation period is over 18 months and specific steps must be taken to ensure the proper process is completed in order that these critters have been successfully removed I am hopeful that after each and every trip when people stay within the capsules the cabins are treated thoroughly I don’t know a single person who wants to be all snuggled up comfy cozy with a bedbug Do you?

@@Delta-pantages They have earplugs if noise is an issue. I personally use both earplugs and a bluetooth sleep mask. And these places clearly aren't for people with claustrophobia. Bringing up that concern is like wondering why there's waterparks when there's people with a fear of water. I personally prefer to be enclosed while sleeping, so it wouldn't bother me at all.
