I’ve been in one of these rooms. The scariest thing about it was the fact that there was no way to get out without someone from the outside opening the door for you. The thought of being trapped in there and not being able to yell for help was terrifying.

The hallucinations are not from the quietness. It's because there is no lights. Setting awake in the darkness for long time without sleeping causes your brain to inter a state of half sleep half awake. Set in your bed for an hour with complete darkness and you will experience the same

Complete silence is uncomfortable. Most of us have heard the whooshing sound (blood circulating) around the ears. And we all subconsciously make noise to make the sensation go away. I always like to keep a fan or radio on to keep from hearing it. Congrats on your new record.

The thing is our brain is tuned to adapt and knows how to work by using our senses, specially sight. So when you cannot see, hearing becomes the top dog and you start noticing stuff. The brain adjusts but if you to that room just like that your brain is going to have a hard time adapting, you will suffer. This is an amazing experiment that teaches us how sensitive and sensible we are to environment. That's why confinement is a torture that makes people go nuts.

I was stuck in a cave once about 26 years ago. I experienced the sounds of blood rushing throughout my body, but not around the ears. Claustrophobia had kicked in hard (I was laying on my back with rock pinned against my chest). All I could hear was the valves in my heart opening and closing and the blood rushing throughout my entire body. It was so loud. I have no clue how long I was stuck there. Once I calmed myself down, my chest relaxed and I slid forward and out of that choke point. I continued on my dig expedition after crawling forward. I had no troubles at all when I came back to the choke point I was stuck at earlier. When I came out of that cave (14 hours total time) the moon and stars were blinding and the crickets and frogs were deafening. This experience cured me of claustrophobia to this day. I would like to try and test this world record.

My theory is that when the room went too quite, the body increased it's sound to hear, but that wasn't enough so the brain had to take over and let him hear whispers and other things, since he was in total darkness, he began to see long legged creatures just to see something, after some minutes go by, Jack had enough, he bang on door waiting for somebody to help him, coincidentally the security gaurd who was supposed to be watching him, went to the bathroom, then he waiting for 5 more minutes, after Jack got out, he stared at the ceiling and had no emotions.

I'm just curious, people who are blind and deaf, do they experience the same thing ? And if not, why is it do we experience that when in complete dark and silence ? This is fascinating. The crazy part of the silent chamber is that you can actually HEAR ! Your sound receptors are going to catch the sound waves of your body organs which is kinda scary. Also when you’re used to hearing sounds and suddenly you go in a quiet environment it is scary . Deaf people are generally born deaf so they’re familiar with the situation and they cannot listen to their body like organs

Blind and deaf people can actually hallucinate too, I'm not to familiar with the topic and the frequency but sometimes they'll get auditory or visual hallucinations. You should definitely search it up if you're curious

@@Arbityrdub Well, they actually can. There was once made a test about something similar and someone, in a dumb way, asked "can you hear something? Anything?" The Deaf Guy stood still and said no but sometimes, when a big sound is made like a pan hitting the ground or a car buzzing he can hear the vibrations around his ear, not completely, but still can, and it's so annoying cause that will circulate his ear for about 5 to 10 minutes. I've never seen myself a Deaf Guy/Girl enter that room, but, I guess they would go crazy as well, after all, it's not just because of the "no sound" thing, you go crazy after you can't entertain yourself or can't focus, you start see things here and there. The room was black, like, completely black, just a smal light coming from the watch could be seen, so imagine that dude, sitting on the chair and seeing things that he can't really see, because the lights were turned off, so that's reallly really scary already. Anyways, again, I'm not completely sure what would happen if a deaf guy/girl entered that room, but I think it would be interesting.
