I am shocked by how surprised everyone seems by the fact that you can cook with an iron. That was a very common practice of college students and people in the military in days gone by. By the way there are these things called pans that you can put on the iron to cook in so you don't ruin the iron. People that did this needed the iron to do their clothes.

Just goes to show, it's way more about HOW you cook things, rather than what's being cooked. I mean let's be honest, without good seasoning and cooking, most things aren't very impressive tasting.

That is not well said at all! Yes seasoning got something to say, but cooking is all about the ingredients, fresh, in season. Take a something as simple as a strawberry, in season it is amazing you don't have to do anything with it but eat it, and then take a out of season strawberry and there is absolutely nothing you can do to it to make it remotely close to the other. It is the same thing with all ingredients fish, meat, vegetables everything, great cooking starts with the best ingredients, anything else will only be second best....

In season/out of season, "organic," etc. are all strategies to get people to part with more of their money, and have no actual bearing on the quality of the produce. You can grow all kinds of produce all year round in a garden at home -- tomatoes, strawberries, you name it. At no point does the quality of the produce suffer based on the time of year. The reason? We designed it to be that way. Produce matters, but the way you're emphasising its importance is nonsense. What you want to look for is food that is sourced locally, that hasn't been handled to death (bruising, freezing, etc.). Beyond that, all of the food you access is the same. Source: half my damn family work in agriculture.
