you cant trespass on public property lol. thats why he didnt get arrested, they didnt want him there but him being there wasnt against the law. this is a great example of early signs of fascism. because the government and police cannot determine who is press based on company money and size. if they had that kind of power they could control the media and what the media says. just like china and Russia. anyone is allowed to be "press" Americans are losing the concept of freedom of the press

@@TravisTheSavageRoss nailed that situation, there is no legal distinction between press and public on public property like a beach in Florida. Ya that cop was respectful tho, the one in black right away wanted to get rid of him, but the other cop stopped him, Cops are supposed to protect and serve us, they essentially work for us, WE pay them with our taxes to do so And seeing him well be rude but then kinda change it up it’s nice, a lot of cops would yell sometimes even tackle and put people in hand cuffs over nothing So ya it’s good Ross stood his ground More people should, and more people should know the law, a lot of cops like to abuse their power.

The thing is, Ross IS media. The first amendment of the United States constitution gives every person on earth the right to be press. You don’t need any training, certification, schooling, license, or anything. If you have a camera, you can be press if you want to be. Ross knows this, that’s why he’s so comfortable with standing his ground on it. He didn’t have to convince anyone that he’s press because he literally is if he says he is.

@PtylerBeats
@PtylerBeats Ай бұрын
@@Rprot_traveler call it what you want. Annoying or not, he had the right to be on that beach in that area. It’s a public beach. I don’t know if you’re American or, if you are, how familiar you are with our constitution, but our freedom of press is as protected as our freedom of speech is. And courts have ruled that they’re very closely tied together. For example, recording is categorized as freedom of speech, but it can also fall under freedom of press. So we have the freedom to speak freely without censorship. So imagine you’re in a public place saying that McDonalds is disgusting. And an employee from McDonald’s comes up and says, “You’re being very annoying right now!” Annoying or not, you have the right to say those things. A cop could not stop you from saying that McDonald’s is gross because you have the right to say that, just like Ross had the right to be where he was with the other journalists. The issue isn’t that the cop was telling him to not bother the biologists, the issue was that he tried to make him leave the area altogether. That’s like the cop coming up to you and saying, “Hey, you can’t say that McDonald’s is disgusting. It’s annoying people, and you can’t do that.” There’s no law prohibiting you from saying that and there never could be because it would be unconstitutional. People can find it annoying that you’re expressing your opinion, but you have just as much of a right to say McDonald’s is disgusting as Ross did standing in that area. You see, once Ross stood his ground, the officers backed off and let him stay because they knew they couldn’t do anything. And it was wrong of them to try in the first place.

He was more so having the other cops back, since the first one knew what was up, and realized Ross knew his rights and exactly what to ask to force a specific answer, by repeatedly asking for clarification. The first one realized there was no reason for the other Cop to potentially put himself out there, on camera, after the initial line of questioning. He remained beyond cordial after the fact answering Ross' interviewed question though, props for that.

FWC and all other wildlife conservation officers have the most training of all non-federal law enforcement agencies. They typically have the most jurisdiction due to the open fields doctrine and can usually enter private property(but not a dwelling) without a warrant. These guys are way smarter than your average beat cop or security guy.

@@lamspam We security guards are also not rent a cops, we require extensive training. Our flashlights are particularly difficult to handle and keep operational.
