They look like spaceships from a science fiction film: jets with stealth technology. Their design makes the stealth aircraft almost invisible to enemy location systems and thus gives them a decisive advantage. Even modern military ships such as the USS Zumwalt camouflage themselves in this way - their unusual shape and a special coating disperse enemy radar beams. How will stealth technology develop? Can it outsmart the human eye?

What kind of documentaries is it? I mean I get that the Zumwalt has been a clusterfuck of a program but the ship is pretty formidable albite insanely overbudget, the F-35 is selling like a hot cake every year because it's pretty much the only way forward and everyone is jumping on the stealth wagon be it the Chinese, Indians or Russians.

The half wolf guard "dog" was enormous and had extra sensory perception. He quickly looked up and back before the shadow on 2 AM brilliant moonlit snow went over, headed on a direct vector to its base, which I verified later on Google Earth. Thin air at 8000' created an eerie silence, as the two glowing magenta exhaust ports moved directly away at high subsonic speed, converging to invisible at several miles. The dog heard it, and stared at it, which is why I knew it was real.

@@dennisrichards7994 The Tu-160 is impressive. But Russia has just 16, while the U.S. has 62 B-1,and 20 B-2. The B-1 represents a closer competitor to the Tu-160, while the B-2s advantage is its stealth. The Tu-160 was first flown in 1981. The U.S. had a similar aircraft, the XB-70 'Valkyrie'. It flew even faster, and was first flown back in 1964. I think the costs, along with competing missile technology prevented it from going into production.

the roll of a battelship became aircraft carrier support task force. destroyers were ment to be fast and agile to serve as quick response force. where as a battleship in action is more like a juggernaut swinging big guns. currently there is no clear identification on what a battercrusier are and what a battelships are or what a destroyer is because submarines can technically be destroyers. technically you can call a raptor a bomber if you load it with a atomic bomb. lol..

@erichkorman710
@erichkorman710 2 жыл бұрын
The SR-71 was obsolete before it was even deployed after the U2 was shot down at 70,000 feet. A fully armed, armoured 1968 Mig-25 hit Mach 3.2; you can take a ride on private ones. The defenceless, unarmed, unmanueverable SR-71 is nakedly vulnerable until at top speed and altitude. It has so little visibility it can be attacked from almost any angle. Not seeing what is coming is okay if you can't do anything about it. Put me in the Mig 25 instead; without drop tanks, missiles, mounts and machine guns it might pass the mere 124 mph difference in top speed
@collander7766
@collander7766 2 жыл бұрын
@@erichkorman710 except you couldn’t actually go Mach 3 in the MiG-25 for more than like 3 minutes without exploding, so they were always limited to lower speeds. It didn’t need to be armed or maneuverable (although it was more agile than the MiG-25) as it was a reconnaissance jet, so that’s kind of a moot point; comparing apples to oranges, obviously the SR-71 is going to be an inferior fighter jet- almost like it’s not one. As a strictly reconnaissance jet, there is no incentive to add weaponry which would hamper performance. As for defenses, it carried countermeasures, but it’s main defense was its speed which *at the time* kept it relatively out of reach from Soviet SAM systems, and even air-to-air missiles. If the YF-12 (SR-71 fighter variant) was fully developed, I’m sure it would’ve been a much better fighter jet than the MiG-25 ever was. Edit: apparently the engines redlined at Mach 2.8, which was advised against because the engine’s lifespan would be significantly reduced. Mach 3+ was only achieved once in a trial, causing irreparable damage to the engines in minutes. /:

I would have enjoyed seeing the B-2 Spirit flying while I was in the Air Force, but it wasn't active then and it sounds like a good aircraft and the new Zumwalt class destroyers sounds like a great ship too and the enemies have nothing to compare to it. The SR-71 Black Bird was the first of the stealth technology and I remember them from my time in service. They was well designed and I loved watching them take off and land. I remember the F-17 aircraft also and it was the first airplanes to go into Iraq with no losses. The F-35 and the F-22 are great fighter aircraft and the F-35 is one which was made for each branch of the services and the F-22 can do as much also even though a small number of them was built and only used by the U.S. Air Force. The B-2 Spirit is the newest and best bomber in the world and the new B-21 will be next to join the fleet and be used to keep the Air Force the best in the world.

The only sad thing about Welt is that the commentary is so unprecise that it is physically painful. Having seen some of these documentaries I have a feeling that they send a German original text through Google Translate before letting a voice-actor read it. With absolutely zero secondary fact-checking. This is sad, because they are in principle not bad if they just worked a bit on the details of facts and the language of translations.

No "stealth" aircraft is "invisible", just far harder to detect on UHF radar. That's an advantage, because only UHF radar can target it well enough to lock a missile on. But VHF radars still detect it, at range, well enough to vector an interceptor. So it comes down to numbers and aircraft and pilot performance, same as WW2. But stealth has disadvantages, too. It limits size and aerodynamic efficiency, increases drag, and the materials are heavier and less rigid. This means that the aircraft's performance, speed, acceleration, and turn and climb rate suffer. It also limits payload and range because weapons and fuel must be carried internally. Exotic and difficult-to-machine materials cut into replacement rates. Add in extreme complexity, as with the F-35, and you add in fragility and serviceability problems as well. Stealth is still useful. But it's not a magic bullet, and anybody who thinks so is only kidding themselves.

@@nbabalkan2356 Read the title to this video: "Stealth Technology - Invisible and Deadly". That _is_ saying stealth technology makes aircraft invisible. "Stealth technology" does as I wrote - it greatly reduces UHF radar returns. That is all it does. Among its "other qualities" are that it adds weight, reduces rigidity and aerodynamic efficiency, and imposes severe constraints on payload while greatly increasing maintenance. Like every military technology whatsoever, stealth is a trade-off. It can be a very considerable advantage, but it has to be paid for, and like every other new forms of attack, stealth aircraft generate new forms of defense against them.

Invisible to radar is not invisible. Infrared detectors, called IRST, for InfraRed Search and Track, are found on almost all Russian and Chinese military aircraft, and can easily detect our stealth aircraft. They are not able to track and range as well as radar does, but they take away the element of surprise and give an indication of location. They can guide the Russian aircraft to a position where they can attack our stealth fighters with infrared missiles, which can also see stealth aircraft. Sadly, the F-35 is slower than other fighters, and cannot escape once detected.
@einehrenmann6156
@einehrenmann6156 10 ай бұрын
sure, try those at a distance of a 100km with F-35s coming at you whilst supercruising (impossible) and you might live long enough to get in range of Heatseekers (IR missiles you speak of) if you don't get blown up by F35s who don't even need to use their own radars to find you and shoot you down.
@andrewheffel3565
@andrewheffel3565 10 ай бұрын
@@einehrenmann6156 I hope our F35 electronics are good enough to prevail over Russian and Chinese aircraft in actual combat. The Russians have aircraft with vastly superior flight performance to the F35, which flies like a brick with wings attached. Maybe our best bet in combat is a mix of F35's and US Gen 4 fighters like F16's and F18's, to combine the best of both. I would like it if we had combined the electronics of the F35 with the performance/maneuverability of the F22. That would have been an awesome combination. As it is, our superior logistics and tactics would probably decimate Russian air power, but China might be a different matter.
@einehrenmann6156
@einehrenmann6156 10 ай бұрын
@@andrewheffel3565 doesn't matter. No amount of flight performance is going to make up for the advantage of stealth. The Fact is that F35s can detect Enemies long before they can detect the F35. So before the Enemies even know the F35s are in the Air there will already be a missile on its way to kill them. The missile will only lock on seconds before it impacts so there is no way to evade that missile with the amount of energy it is carrying no matter how good your performance is becouse the Human inside is only going to take so many G's until he gets turned to goo. The main problem F35s have is that internal weapons bays have a limited capacity meaning that wave tactics could break trough the initial wave of missiles of the F35s and get within radar detection range (40 ish nautical miles). But that is being fixed with the "Sidekick" addition and future drones that fly together with F35s which will also be able to carry missiles. But even having a single F35 acting as an "invisible" sensor array has greatly improved combat capability of 4th gen aircraft. It seems to me like the Russians aren't a threat for the foreseeable future and the chinese still only employ air superiority fighters capable of stealth with lower numbers and lower quality than F35s. With NGAD and F/A-XX already in progress creating a 6th gen fighter whilst china and russia don't even have a real 5th gen (Stealth and Sensor Fusion) avaiable should be sufficient proof that the american airforce is stronger than ever.
@andrewheffel3565
@andrewheffel3565 10 ай бұрын
@@einehrenmann6156 I hope you are right, but I have my doubts, at least about the F35. The war in Ukraine shows how weak Russia really is. They would have little chance against the US in a conventional war. In Vietnam we left cannons off early F4 Phantoms because we thought air to air missiles were invincible. We soon found many situations where cannons were necessary, and hastily added them back. Truth is, we won't know how good the F35 is unless we go toe to toe with the Chinese, and I don't care to find out the hard way. War gets complicated. My suspicion is we would easily a conventional war with China too. We are good at projecting power at great distance, China seems focused mostly on coastal defense, no blue water navy. We could disable oil tankers headed to China while they were still far away, and they could do little to stop us. Without oil the Chinese would be doomed.

F-117A was shut down 50 Km from Belgrade (at Budjanovci), and it wasn't so invisible. Guess US Air Force realised it's too expensive aircraft that was very visible to enemy radar systems, that also was very slow and could not march Russian made Aircrafts in the air fights by far. So new platform was necessity, so there was F-22 then. Wonder why no documentaries on SU-31, SU-37 Berkut or similar aircrafts (systems on them are totally in domain of Sci-Fi).

it's like watching CNN news , always getting the images and facts wrong as well broadcasting people's opinions instead of rounding up more detailed on the spot reporting of facts, witnesses and images. even most uneducated people around the planet know how common it is for a river, lake, sea, ocean, desert or mountain range to be used as a border of a country, province, region, county, city, town or village. I still get a chuckle when CNN reporter was in a New Jersey town called West New York and mentioned was"here in New York". Granted, almost if not all New York City/New Jersey residents know the Hudson River is the border that separates the 2. As a reporter, should have been obvious any place West of Hudson River near the Lincoln and Holland tunnels would be in N. J. If not sure, reporter/assistant/, producer should have googled , mapquested or checked their location on cell phone. Same and other mistakes happened repeatedly , probably still does. I've stopped watching their news over 10 years ago. In the past, I was "forced"to pay for expensive cable/satellite TV programming for certain channels that were entertaining or informative. The military channel, Discovery channel, weather channel, Nat Geo, CNN, etc. but once they became"reality series", wrong info /shallow"documentaries" made for dumb sheeple drowning in excessive stupid/loud commercials, I was done. now saving over $1,400 yearly as I discovered better programs for free.
