Just curious as I am following your guide not on steam deck but just my Linux desktop and how is the performance for you ? I seem to get very unstable 30 fps with stutters that cause the game to fluctuate between 25-30 fps which feel really bad. Not sure if its normal for this game or something is messed up with my setup.

I'm not sure about desktop performance but on Steam Deck it's about 30fps some people say you can get 60fps but I haven't figured it out yet

@@nyttekgaming If you install Windower, edit the init.xml in the scripts folder look for the line "//config FrameRateDivisor 1", this enables the game to run at 60 fps. There is a caveat to doing it, some cut scenes will not run forcing you to exit the game, reload and type "//config FrameRateDivisor 2" which resets the game back to running at it's native speed of 30 fps.

The install works but for some reason once I get to the playonline part to input my info the steamdeck keyboard doesnt work. I have it on screen. but once I type it wont do anything in the playonline passcode screen. do you know why? Also I have my passcode input correctly and it says incorrect id and password when I can log in on my PC perfectly fine.

I honestly don't know but downloading from the site is free and downloading from Steam cost. Most people say it doesn't work on Steam Deck if you download through Steam

Lutris is giving me some issues since my internal drive is almost full. I'm installing to a SD card, and download cache is set to that SD card. Can I do install ffxi without using lutris?

Also I believe you are going to have to manually move the folder to the SD card and point steam to the directory

For the controls to work you have to run the config file through the wine exe prefix and you have to download windower 4 from the Lutris downloader

Dual box is when you control 2 characters on 2 separate consoles, not sure if it can be done on same console using windows/windower. Gives you ability to “solo”/duo harder game content with a DD/healer combo
