0:47 - 1:00 works really well cause even though the chord progression in Steam Gardens at this point is different from Viva La Vida, it’s very similar functionally speaking. (At least up until about 0:59.) Basically the chords lead into each other in Steam Gardens in much the same way they do in Viva La Vida. They’ve got that same sense of “flow” or “direction” from a harmony standpoint.
