Over the years of my filming steam tours nothing makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck than steam tours at speed be it single engine or double headed . This is footage of some of the more memorable footage .

LMS 46233 at Kirkby Stephen.
BR 70013 Oliver Cromwell near Horton in Ribblesdale.
LNER 60009 Union of South Africa near Cumwhinton.
LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman at Shap Wells.
LNER 61306 Mayflower & SR 35018 British India Line at Birkett Common.
LMS 45305 at Oxenholme.
LMS 46233 Duchess of Sutherland at Bessie Ghyll.
LMS 44932 & 45305 at Shap Summit.
LNER 60163 Tornado at Angrholme.
71000 Duke of Gloucester at Waitby Rock Cutting.
LMS 44871 & 45407 at Aisgill .
LMS 46233 Duchess of Sutherland at Shap Beck Quarry.

Thanks for reminding me of winter Steve, great compilation of steam in the snow, and trains that are not running on the mainline anymore .🚂

Wow spectacular! The only two I’ve seen at speed on the main line was Mallard (Hartlepool, 1986) and Flying Scotsman (Bradbury, ECML, 2016). Both were doing about 70mph. Mallard had the power on and sounded insane! Scotsman was coasting (downhill) so wasn’t making much noise, but looked amazing up on the embankment. 😃
