The NYMR is my favourite heritage railway. I’ve been going since I was little, and it’s still great to this day. They don’t have the most interesting selection of locos and rolling stock, but you get some beautiful scenery.

I suppose how interesting the loco roster is depends on what your baseline is. I volunteer at a railway that until recently didn't have any tender engines at all so seeing a Black 5, 9F, J27 and Schools Class (among others) all working together was pretty exciting for me. Thanks for watching 😃

Nice video. That shunter 12139 is very similar to the English built NS class 600 shunters in the Netherlands. Made by English Electric between 1950 and 1957 some of these are still used by small private companies and some have been shipped back to the UK. These were the only shunters with connecting rods on the wheels (don’t know if this correct English) in the Netherlands. Quality was probably very good in the fifties.😀

Yes it's a Class 12 - the Class 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 were incredibly numerous in the UK and some still even remain in use (outside of preservation) to this day! They're an incredible work horse and great for any heritage line that needs stuff shunting without any fuss. They pretty much nailed the design straight out of the gate with these. The Schools Class reminded me of Airfix days, which go back to the '60s. I was almost settled on a modest, 1:76 scale layout but now a 1:1 scale, garden railway, seems so.o.o appealing.🤣 Wonderful editing. Very much enjoyed this video!

I’ve been waiting to see a working schools class for years. Every time I go to the Bluebell or North Yorks they are both in the works or out of service. Time to go back to Yorkshire…. Great video. I love going to Whitby behind a steam locomotive.

It's nice that Repton is able to run on the Whitby section. It's funny, I saw it at the NYMR years ago as a teenagers so I now associate the Schools Class more with Yorkshire than I do the Southern Region now... blasphemy I know! Thanks for watching 😃

I loved my trip to NYMR too. I did a video of a train filling up with water at Pickering. Also TMC the model centre is just down the road from Goathland station . 😊

Ah brilliant, yes they often fill up at Pickering as the line is very long. Yeah definitely worth stopping in at TMC if you do the walk from Goathland to Grosmont. Thanks for watching 🤩

I recently went on a trip to the UK, visited the NRM aswell as the NYMR, both amazing experiences. Visiting the NRM was the first time I saw a british steam engine myself. And then getting to ride with one on the NYMR was just great. Probably one of the best trips I've ever been on.

It is a wonderful railway, all the stations are well preserved and well kept, and there's always something going on there, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself there, it is a perfect example of a heritage railway 😀

There's definitely a sense of efficiency and purpose at the NYMR, especially around Grosmont where locos are moving back and forth between the MPD fairly frequently. I've never seen anything else that comes close on any other heritage line. Thanks for watching 😃

I visited a few weeks ago after having not done so in over a decade. The staff were anazingly friendly and the route pretty spectacular. Really enjoyed my visit and watching your video too. I'm sure I saw that 31 at Derby back in the day painted in Fragonset livery...

It's not quite the same, the diesel at the start is a Class 31 where the TT:120 model is a Class 50... if you saw them side by side the Class 50 is noticeably bigger. I believe Hornby are working on a Class 31 for TT though so watch this space! Thanks for watching 😃

I don't know the reason myself but they got it working again pretty quickly as it didn't affect any other trains that day. This wasn't the only signal that failed during my visit either (just the only one we caught on camera) and sometimes it can be something as simple as the weather causing something to not work correctly. The NYMR is featured with behind the scenes footage on TV in Australia at the moment with my Wife and I enjoying each weekly show. We would love to visit there someday. 👍🚂

Great video. Out of interest, how many different cameras / cameramen did you use to get all the shots?

Some sequences were filmed with two cameras but others were filmed different days from different positions and edited together to look like one. Thanks for watching 😃
