In August 2016, Oamaru, New Zealand, broke the world record for the greatest number of steampunks gathered in once place - but what is steampunk? First used in 1987, the term refers to a sub genre of science fiction that imagines a Victorian vision of the future, spawning a whole world of literature, fashion and culture.

For those who fell asleep in 19th Century Literature class and thought it was Harry Potter. Real history and living history is far more interesting than this.
