Ik was pas 7, maar luisterde de platen van mama helemaal plat, en zij staat ook in het publiek... De liefde voor Reggae komt van mijn moeder, waar ik haar eeuwig dankbaar voor ben, wat een muzikale educatie ik heb gehad.... zou verplicht moeten worden... van jongs af aan luisteren naar echt GOEDE muziek.

I have seen these brothers live 4 times in Chicago starting in 1979. That they could perform so close to the album recordings means that these men played CONSTANTLY, nonstop, eery day and night. This is whats called a work ethic.

Me too. The Quiet Knight and The Riviera. Moved to SoCal in "82" and lost count of how many times I've seen them. I still preferred the early "Pulse".

Best live performance by the Pulse I ever seen. They strayed a while but back in 2015 I got to see them, expected nothing, and they played all the oldies and really well. This is on another level I wish reggae was still made with this kind of inspiration.

I was there on a beautiful day in August. The concerts at the Vondelpark were free. Was my first Reggae concert with many songs of Handsworth Revolution that was released in 1978.

the period 1980-1985 was Steel Pulse at their very best !!!!!!!!!!! with this line up they were incredible

Yes, that's the best line up. I'm so very glad I got to see them many times during this period 80-84. Steve and Ronnie held down the RYTHM.

"Stepper" McQueen on bass left the group after the "True Democracy" album and moved out here in SoCal and joined a local short lived band called Mongoose. Sad to see him go.

Ik was 16 jaar oud toen ik daar was. Na Bob Marley 1 van de beste live bands. En Steel Pulse was legendarisch in deze bezetting.

I was lucky to see them with this band lineup on their first Chicago concert in 1981. Saw them twice and this was the best "Steel Pulse".

I've seen Steel Pulse live and I've been to Vondel Park. Very cool setting for a cool band, would loved to have been there but I was 10 years old at the time and was more interested in the Incredible Hulk than reggae and european travel

Stepper screwed up! He moved to California and played with a local short lived band called "Mongoose". I saw this Steel Pulse lineup in Chicago in '81". The best!

Amazing how good they were able to sound outdoors. But didn't this set include "Prodigal Son"? I'm looking everywhere for a very particular live version. Love the way Grizzly finishes the percussion at the tail end of the bridge in that version, though it may not have been the one in this set. I thought it was part of this set marleyarkives.wordpress.com/2013/01/12/steel-pulse-live-at-ritz-theatre-nyc-august-13-1982-feat-al-anderson/?unapproved=102844&moderation-hash=facff63694ebf65a969809243ecfbf36#comment-102844 but apparently not. Very unique rendition, really miss hearing it
