In Australia we used grinders haha. And everyone uses Hilti or Makita. Rarely anything else.

I am a trim carp but sometimes I help with the drywall steel stud side. I use Milwaukee straight snips and a small circular saw with a metal cutting blade for 33 mil structural.

I use Bessey reds. They cost a little more but they hold their edge longer than any other pair I've used, and they cut so smooth. They say they're good up to 16 ga, though I haven't tried it.

I only use Milwaukee straights for framing and making all sort of cuts. The reds make sense theoretically for cutting studs and track but never could I get it right.

Also I tried a pair of straight Wiss for cutting my tbar ceilings, and the first cut I tried to make on an inside corner on my wall mould, the blade was fucked. I'll never buy straight Wiss again.

I prefer building partition walls with steel studs. In Canada, the big stores like home depot only carry 25 gauge. 😕

I feel really comfortable working with green angle snips on my right hand. Could never really get a hang on red angled snips. #seattle

I have a question about the green or reds. I am right handed and I would like the waste part to go to the right side. What color to buy? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Man that's complicated haha

The waste goes to the anvil side. I can’t see why you’d use red ‘left side’ snips if you are right handed. I go with green right side snips if you are trimming the Right hand edge off a piece you are holding in your left hand. Notice in the vid when he trims like this with RED snips it is because he is holding them upside down…ie. anvil on top and waste curls downward. All you need to remember is the waste curls up over the anvil. Or can use red snips, but in your left hand. Straights are really for notching…if you cut across a sheet with them you hand will want to be in line with the surface…which it can’t be, so you are fighting it every cut!

Any snip can take a quarter inch off a metal stud. Cut a stud in half to show what works better. That's what matters.
