And I’ll clarify for you - Texas has NO excuse for not destroying that pitiful conference every year during that decade. The North was a constant joke, and all Texas had to do was take care of business and eliminate ou. Instead they messed around and didn’t go into those games with the right mindset, which should’ve been to absolutely humiliate you people. So as a result, we let y’all squeak in to play B12 North chumps and win conference titles. It should’ve always been Texas, but right coaching and culture were simply not in place.

BCS was a wild time. It was chaos again the following year in the Big 12 with a 3-way tie. No one even considered Texas Tech so it came to Texas or OU. Even though Texas beat OU, they gave it to OU. "L" column and the timing of that "L" were crucial. Also, remember "style points"? It was a rough time for the little colleges.

They were somewhat of a rivalry in the good ol Big 8 days.

It may get fired back up when OU joins the SEC. Depending on how they structure it, they could play every year again.

Because we beat the number 2 team in the nation in ku and then the former 1 dropped their game so we loved to 1 after.

@@omega-manthe8346 As if Kansas had any business being that high. They didn't have to play OU or Texas, both of whom they'd obviously get crushed by as Missouri did to OU twice. OU and Texas were the top two teams in the Big 12 that season. That was the real Big 12 Championship game.

Missouri did play them an had already lost to Oklahoma in the regular season. Kansas didn't play Oklahoma though.

I think Oklahoma was even favored in this game despite Missouri being #1 because they whupped them earlier? I might be wrong about that part though.
