Give this guy a Milkbone. Steelcase sent us replacement 4-way arms after incorrectly shipping us height adjustable only installed on our chair. The instruction pdf they emailed is either the wrong one or completely nonsensical. This is very helpful, thanks.

Thank you brother. No information on the internet about this and this definitely needed a video walk through. I felt like my armrests were always in the way and I really don't need them since I have a keyboard drawer leveled with my arms.

Just found this video and was able to remove the armrests. Thanks for the video. Otherwise, I had no idea how to remove them. Can you please point me to where I could get some type of covers to cover the opening after removing the armrests? I needed to remove them bc I have tendency to lean on them and then hurt my lower arm right below my elbows and also my skin gets irritated.

Hi Adam, My Leap 2 chair was damaged when it tipped over. The left hand screw that holds the lumbar support into the plastic broke out of the plastic. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Great video, but I think I have the V1 which has the articulating arm and the solid steel arm sleeve, unlike yours in the video which has the white plastic on the outside of it. To remove the arm with my set up it is actually mucho easier and does not require taking off the cover. Simply raise the arm to it's highest position and stick a small screwdriver in the little hole just barely peeking out from over the INBOARD side of the arm post. Push it, and the button for raising and lowering the arm and it will pull out. At this point you have THE finest guitar playing chair in the world!

Hello, I was wondering, if the tab that holds the arm in place was removed, would you be able to pull the arm out on the fly? I realize that in such a setup the arm could come out by mistake if it were pulled up to high. But I ordered one of these chairs and might want to be able to play my guitar while using it, and so I wanted your opinion before I tried it. Thank you for the informative video!

Did you try it and does it work?
@barryharrell3355
@barryharrell3355 2 жыл бұрын
@@1RungAtATime You could for sure, but you don't need to. I keep a small screwdriver on my desk and just pop the arm out when I want to play and then put it back in by pressing on the tab. You can sand down the edge of the tab too, I did that on one of my chairs. You just angle the bottom of the tab from the inside edge to the outside edge of the tile. Then when you press the button the tab goes in far enough so that the angled tab gets pushed back in like the latch on a door knob. But the bottom line is, just keep a tiny screwdriver on your desk and you can pop the arm in and out with ease. You really don't need to modify it at all. I have two of these chairs, the V-1 and V-2, and it workes equally as well on both.

Great video man, one question, is it normal for the arms to be a bit loose? At the base, like if you try to move them side to side and backwards/forwards there is a little wiggle room and they make a sound. Thanks!

I believe it is and I wouldn't bother replacing them unless you absolutely have to or it's rattling enough to annoy you. Even if it annoys you, there's no real guarantee that the rattle will be gone when you order a replacement. Maybe I am cheap but I try and extend the life of my equipment as much as possible, despite the annoyances it brings.

I have 2 Leap v2s, and one arm is making way more noise than the 3 others. Have a look twitter.com/ArtemR/status/1329315905289940992. Not sure how to deal with it yet.

Thank you, I appreciate the information. I had just purchased a chair and it didn't have the correct arms, but I checked the website and they agreed it was a mistake, so I'm sending my chair back to get the correct arms. So I should be okay now. But if not I appreciate the information.

My right armrest on my V1 has been broken for a couple years. I was playing a game and died in a very frustrating way which prompted me to slam my fist on the right armrest (like a stupid child) and now it won't lock into position at all. It's stuck at the bottom and comes right out if you pull up on it. I've just been living with it because I play guitar and it's nice for that. But now that I'm going to be working remotely, I want the ergonomics of my home setup to be as close to prefect as possible. Anyone run into this situation and know which specific part needs to be replaced? Maybe a part number or link to send over? I guess I can disassemble the left arm rest and see what is missing or damaged between the two of them. But thought I'd ask around on the internet first in case someone has fixed this exact issue. Lesson learned, don't be immature when it comes to video games. I'm normally not at all and take losses on the chin. But this particular loss on Overwatch was immensely frustrating. I can't remember what prompted it now since it's been so long, but wow was that a stupid move lmao. Also, I use a Herman Miller Aeron at work and even though my Steelcase Leap is damaged. I still much prefer it to the Aeron. They are amazing chairs. Mine is so old and is still incredibly comfortable. I used to spend close to 10 hours a day in this chair when I was doing freelance work and studying years ago. I tested out an Ikea Markus chair (their high end chair) and the difference between the two was immediate. I have never felt sore after sitting in this chair. I will buy a V2 off craigslist for $200 - $400 if a repair isn't in the cards. These things are perfection.

I just did the same thing... for the V2, there is a torx screw at the bottom of the arm rest pillar. It's visible if you remove the arm and flip the chair over. If you unscrew that, the plastic column that holds the arm comes out and you can easily remove the arm with the plastic column insert removed from the chair body.

I have a refurbished Steelcase Leap V1 (black plastic). The armrest pillars wobble a lot -- around 5mm when set to a 10cm height! Is this normal, or are they faulty?
