Most new chairs feel great. But does the comfort last? I haven't touched a screw or replaced a single part in 6 years. How does it perform today?
Sizing: I am 5' 9'' and 170lbs.

the fact that it's a '6 year' review is all you need to know

Thanks! I have to admit, in the last couple months one of the plastic pieces from the lumbar support broke off, so now it's secured in only 3 spots. Feels exactly the same, just kinda ugly. Pretty good still for 7 years of heavy use 40 hours a week.

@@dikshaaggarwal7872 on the firm side. I wouldn't call it plush. I used to think squishy = comfortable but adequate support seems to be more important!

I'm very tempted to get the Think just because I think it's one of the best looking Steelcase chairs. Great to hear it holds up well over time. Thanks for the review!

Thanks! I feel like most chairs feel good for at least 6 months but this "low" end steel case has been great for 6 years!!!

@@junbox618 This low end steelcase is a high mid tier or bottom high tier chair. Amazing chair. 400lb capacity!!! ROBUST BUILD. Amazing feeling. The tilt lock mechanism clicks are soooooo satisfying! All of the features of a high end chair that they offer (except the Gesture with its 6D arm rests... Lumbar support easy to get out of the way or uninstall. Easy to disassemble. I can't wait to come across a thinkv2. Also I found some cheap because the market around me is crazy due to population density, offices, major cities near me, high income towns, etc. If I had to buy this chair for 300-400 and needed a chair bad it would be a better choice than Amazon or a gaming chair, ikea etc.

@@MakinaDeMuerte I should have mentioned the clicks! Yes! They're like something out of a high end fidget toy. LOL

Chair and posture are two very important things that nobody should compromise on. Everyone should find the chair that works best for them. Do not settle with "good enough" when it comes to a chair which you sit on for 6 hours everyday. I'd highly recommend the Steelcase Leap V2. New ones fully loaded go for $1300 but you can find refurbished/renewed which are equally good for around $500. You can also look for used ones for $300. These chairs last decades and are good investments for your posture. No kidding. BTW, the lumbar support on my Steelcase Leap V2 also keeps sliding down but I don't mind pulling them back up once in a while. Actually I like it that way because every time I slide it back up I am reminded that this chair has an awesome adjustable lumbar support!

Yup. I didn't care in my 20s, but now that I'm approaching 40, I know how important it is to have a quality chair. I'm getting old and so is my back.

Great review. How many hours in a day do you sit on it? Is this a V1 or V2?

Thanks! I have the V2 (has the plastic black bars). This chair is now on part time duty in the home office. I've switched to this Cal PIA Brentwood chair (made by California Prison Industry) and it doesn't have all the fancy adjustments but damn this chair has the most comfortable lumbar EVER. Too bad it's not available to the public. tinyurl.com/ynbrt89y

Do you recommend this for $165 used if the arm rests cannot be adjusted? For reference, I'm 5'3" and 120 lbs.

$165 is a pretty good price but I would consider ponying up for a near new one especially with offices closing up and layoffs coming, I've seen a lot of these chairs for sale on FB Marketplace

Free from work - $0 I've seen them used from offices going for $100 or so. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used one if it's in good condition. Waaaay better than a $100 cheap new office chair.

I see that yours is leather, would you get leather again or mesh or fabric? I'm assuming those options can also have a significant difference in feel on your back and butt.
@junbox618
@junbox618 2 жыл бұрын
I would get fabric next time. But that's just personal preference...I prefer fabric seats in cars foo (I know...I'm weird). If I wear mesh shorts I notice they stick a bit if I move around in the chair. Maybe fabric would do the same 🤷‍♂️
