I paid £59 for mine and it's stunning. Better than any of my Seikos which cost 5/6/7 times as much.

I got 4 of these SD1953 diving watches, and I have no probles at all when it comes funtionality, performance, cosmetics or bezel rotation. I use them for diving, and they all have gone beyond 345 meters deep a few times already. That is very impressive!! Moreover, none of my 4 SD1953 miss any of the clicks while rotating the bezel. The bezel is always smooth, balanced, and crisp. I have tried hard to find something wrong with these watches even internally (I have all the necessary tools to do so...) during the 2 years I have been owning them, but nothing! I think this is an amazing watch for the money. I also owe 2 Tudor, and 3 Rolex Submariner watches in my collection, and I have to say that the Steeldive is a very potivive surprise. It's hands down a great addition. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience with this nice video!

You probably will get fluctuations in quality with these watches but mine was flawless. I bought the hulk. The bezel works and sounds beautiful and no scratches...put it on a green and yellow limited edition nato Seiko strap and looks fantastic..and keeps great time..Love it.

".. at prices we were used to a while ago." Love that little sentence considering how everything has gone up prise wise, and actually also on most AE watches as well. I own a couple of Steeldive "classics", and love them for (mostly) the value of money you get. Never owned a subby homage, maybe I've considered it a bit "too obvious homage" if that makes sense. But I've always loved the case design. And here the bracelet and the finishing is over all very decent as often with Steeldive. Cyclops are hits and misses for me, but this one looked really good as well. 300m felt a bit brave though lol, but not a big deal. Great price, and maybe a good watch to mod a bit; A new dial and different hands might've suit me here (non mercedes hands might even be enough personally), and then having yet another fun great value for money watch. Great video as usual, keep up the good work.

I bought the black one a year ago, it's such a great piece. I replaced the date wheel with a black one and painted the secondhand tip red. It's the one I use the most. Also got the turquoise one recently which I think is a better version, different case back and that sharp edge between the lugs is now smoother so it won't damage my leather straps. They should offer a date version without the cyclops and different bezel colors. I might buy the blue one at the next sale. Great video

I was really going to buy a sub but after buying 1 of these it will make you think about life choices. This watch is at 98% of what the sub is, and I get that that's not the point as a collector BUT DAMN. I look down and I see a watch that looks great, tells time, great shape, great size, great lume, does not feel like a cheap watch in hand or on the wrist. At what point do you say I am just buying the name? I seriously own a watch from a big brand that cost $1300 and this watch slaps that watch around like its a child. And for reference I own a Rolex, Omega, Tudor so I know what a nice watch is. I got mine on sale for $68 and if you are on the fence about this watch don't be, I guarantee you will be satisfied. I will throw out 1 tiny con I think the date window magnifier could be a little more clear just to show I am really thinking about the watch as a whole. This watch is a collectors daily wearer 100%.

I had the skx homage from steeldive sold it on in the end was ok kept good time but lume pip popped out within a week and crown was gritty wouldn’t get another steeldive myself but if you new to the hobby this is great value

I paid £54 for mine, which is just ridiculously good value. It only loses about 4 seconds a day. I got the jubilee bracelet and I think it looks stunning. They used to have poor bracelets apparently but they are fine now. Shame about the cyclops, lol, but at the time it was £90 for the no-date version so... :)

Yeah nice one like wise i own the sd 1953 i upgraded the bracelet to a steeldive proper oyster clasp rather than the pressed version supplied worth paying out for.

Nice watch for a really nice price. It feels good on the wrist and the lume lasts for hours.

Can’t agree with you more these Steeldive and addiesdive pack one heck of a punch to pagani when it comes to quality and value for dollar spent and I love my pagani. I prefer the pagani design name and branding though tbh

Just for the record, its not a 'kermit' its actually a 'starbucks' the kermit was an earlier version of the sub with a aluminum bezel which is more lime green than the darker ceramic starbucks.! Ive just recently picked up the addiesdive version with miyota 2115 quartz movement for just £20 as i was thinking of doing a hydro mod on it. For £20 the addiesdive quality was the same as my SD1953. So good in fact i have ordered two more NH35 just like the SD1953 as they were only £40 each in the latest sale although i couldnt find a 'smurf' one so might have to buy the SD1953 in blue.!! They are around £50 just now before the 11/11 sale so will probably go up in that sale as some do.!! Great content again as usual.!! PUKKA.! 👌

Hey, Simon. I bought the SD1953 as a mod base, and it’s okay. The worst part is that the click spring in the bezel completely broke after 2 weeks, and the bezel now acts like a friction bezel (no clicks). I’m probably going to stay away from Steeldive from now on. Don’t hate them, but there are plenty of other brands I can try. Also, I actually specifically ordered one with the case back you got, which looks much cooler, but a different case back came. Not a big deal, but the picture of the watch in the AliExpress store did not match what I received.

I got the SD1953 recently but had a bad qc problem. The winding stem was too short, so it wasn't possible to set the time or even wind it up. This seems to be a common problem, and you'll see a few posts online about it. After much back and forth with their customer service, I was able to get a new stem and crown sent to me. Before I found out it was the stem, I tried to get the watch returned, but had to pay for shipping myself. If I didn't know how to open the back and remove the stem, I would've been stuck with a paperweight. The watch has great specs, but the quality control is not really good. It you're willing to take a chance, or know how to do simple repairs, this is a great homage watch for the price.

I own the addiesdive auto version and prefer that bezel insert but I had to brush the centre links. This is nice and for the price!!

I watched with interest, having bought an all Black SD1953 as my first homage watch approx. 6 weeks ago. I paid a few pounds more by not waiting for the "End of Summer Sale". I was especially curious how you would rate the Steeldive on build quality. I recently commented on your Addiesdive MY-H5 review. I'm awaiting delivery of mine.. My hope is that Addiesdive are of very similar quality (clasp aside..) at an even more competitive price. Re: the SD1953. I'd agree with your comments on most fronts. Definitely a pressed steel outer clasp case but at least it is decent thickness steel. No Bezel issues with mine. It was a little stiff in action initially but has freed up with a bit of use, yours may smooth out too. One thing you didn't mention. The Cyclops is 2.5x magnification but appears to 'over magnify' (in comparison to a genuine Rolex Sub). My understanding is that this is due to the rehaut being taller/cyclops being further away from the face of the watch than that on the Rolex. It does make "double figures" dates a little trickier to read but is certainly liveable with. No QC issues with mine. Running faultlessly for the last 6 weeks at a few seconds per day accuracy. I think the SD1953 really does hit the 'sweet spot' between price and features for a "Sub" homage. I saw no reason to spend more on a Kronos or San Martin (especially with the same movement). Steeldive FTW. Addiesdive TBD...
