The friendship Walter and Donald had together was unbreakable and was built on trust and loyalty. It makes me wish I had a friendship like they have. You can't find friends like that anymore. Rest in peace Walter love and miss you

Growing up with 3 older brothers had many benefits. Being exposed to SD was definitely one of them. I’m a musician and I can tell that everything I write and play has a hint of their influence. I’m grateful for this. My life is better because of their music. Thanks SD. RIP WB

I never could figure out if I liked Steely Dan. I kept listening to in. Over the years. Do I like it? I was left with the fact that art that makes you think is real art.

This is terrific and very enlightening. However if this timeline is correct Walter and Donald went there separate ways shortly thereafter only to reform in the mid-nineties. Rest in peace Walter Becker.
@massofgass6 жыл бұрын
That is entirely possible, but the person that gave this to me said it was from 1981. R.I.P. Walter
@chasecrocker39566 жыл бұрын
Considering that they said at one point in the interview "We've been together for 10 years" that would be in alignment with the timeline of Steely Dan forming and making demos in 1971 and breaking up June of 1981.

The tape is running a semitone or so flat, so that probably has something to do with it.

Great duo, some of the best music from that era, I bought my 1st album in 1975, steely Dans the royal scam, I forgot how much I paid, I'll guess 5 bucks maybe, well worth it, I played the shit out of that thing.

Ran across this interview and it’s really funny they mentioned the Stardust Motel in Waldorf Md. I can’t believe walter and Donald played in Waldorf at the stardust😂 it closed down and I think it burned down but It’s been a such a long time… Waldorf Md.. that’s funny that they talked about what a sh-t hole it was. And it was!
@johnshields6852 Жыл бұрын
It's funny how connections in the music industry helped along the way, otherwise they may have never gotten the opportunity to write and get songs out there, like, "do it again" that's the 1 that broke them, it's always that way, 1 song.
