Stefan hitting mulipile new bests in his Dodge Daytona Shelby Z. First new best was a 10.2, and then he later ran a 10.17!

So awesome, what a machine. But I'm still fond of the good old 2.2 4 cyL. I had a '87 GLHS Charger #875. My cuzzin' still has his 85' Shelby Charger & a 87' GLHS Charger. Thanks for sharing. Take care. - Leeroy

So cool and that's the most power I've seen anyone get out of the turbo III. I had a 91 Spirit R/T for years. Basic bleed valve on the waste gate set to 14.5 psi with higher flow injectors the MP techs recommended and some other mods. Koni's all around but always traction issues with the stock size tires. In the later years I had a local exhaust wizard do a custom setup and that really woke it up. More traction issues though as it would spin the tires under boost through 3rd gear. The MP techs said the engine was designed to run 15 psi full time. They also had a computer/injector upgrade package developed for it but corp never let it go to market. Told me there were also some European one pushing 260 HP stock. If I remember correctly they said different turbo and manifold but it's been years since I thought about that so maybe my memory is off.

Wow, you just brought me back in time. I used to have a Neon SRT4, and the second mod I did was the WGA…what a difference! I eventually went big turbo etc., but that WGA was one of the most fun mods. Same with exhaust… we all had a local guy do them up in New England.

Beautiful Daytona Turbo Z! The Lotus Motor makes great power....if you turn the boost up you're in the 9's with ease. That automatic trans sounds like it's working great.

The Daytonas have a motor designed by mistubishi and dodge..
@rickd10284 жыл бұрын
TuTheBarbarian the 2.2 8v SOHC Turbo engine was designed and built solely by Chrysler. The engine in the Daytona in *this* video (which is from the 1992-1993 Dodge Daytona Iroc R/T) was designed and built by Lotus in England. The block was designed by Chrysler and the DOHC 16v Head was designed by Lotus. I’ve been an ASE Master Tech for Dodge since the early 90’s and am lifelong friends with the lead Engineer from Chrysler who designed this engine.

Rick D not a lotus. Its a turbo2
@rickd10284 жыл бұрын
@@gsfbffxpdhhdf7043 No sir. This is NOT a Turbo II. The engine in this Daytona is indeed a Turbo III. The Turbo III engine (2.2 16v Turbo/Intercooled) produced 225hp from the factory (at a mere 11.7psi peak boost) and the head itself was designed by Lotus in England. In fact, the complete upper half of this engine was designed by Lotus (i.e. the head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold and turbocharger). The block was designed by Chrysler and the pistons are Fully Forged Aluminum pistons made by Mahle of Germany. Also, the rods are factory forged steel rods (with full floating wrist pins) and the crank is a forged steel piece. We've made well over 500whp with absolutely no failures on the bone stock long block. At around 550whp and up, that's when you need to think about upgrading the rods (e.g. to a good H-beam style rod). As for the factory forged pistons and crank...they are good for well over 800whp. There was a guy named Stephane B (from Canada) who went 8.0@178mph back in 2001 with this engine (in a Shelby Charger body)...still Front Wheel Drive. Not bad for 19years ago...

He commented on this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNd6jNeg3biqcWw.html I'll reply to him now.
There's a few things I just don't go with; stock intake stock manifolds... Why!!! Also look at the size of the discs... That thing is dangerously incapable of braking. I mean he's at mandatory rollcage territory.

Look at how the motor is situated will tell you a lot. Not everything but most of the time from FWD to RWD. Unless it’s AWD…
