I don't thing there's alot separating the current No1 and 2. For me its a matter of style preference. R&Y dance a far more energetic, attacking style, but at times they can overpower the music and look a little out of harmony rhythmically. Stef And Daria dance a more laid back and rhythmically easy style, but for me more reflective of the flavour and rhythm of the music. By comparison it can appear a little slow or lazy, but they're not at all. Daria's mouth in cha cha is distracting and a little bit off putting for me. But then Yulia does some strange things at times with her mouth too. Both superb in their own way and a matter of whether one prefers apples or oranges. Personally I like apples, but the adjudicators obviously prefer oranges. Oh well.

I liked Yulia's style before around 2008 to 2010, then they dramatically altered their style of dancing around the last quarter of 2011... I still love her though with Riccardo..

Ralph. Yulia is a phenomenon and arguably the best lady dance sport dancer of all time. I say that because she partnered two male dancers who couldn't be more polar opposite as dancers go. One a pure creative artist and showman and the other a technical and competitive master. Yulia, not only adapted to both styles perfectly, but she showcases their individual, diverse skills and personalities brilliantly. I loved the performances she and max created and that is Yulia the showgirl. The Yulia we have now is more the competitive beast. I mean that in a good way. Dance partnerships to me is a team and my absolute favourite partnerships are those where one partner doesn't unreasonably over dominate the other as I believe is the case with R&Y. Another is Brian Watson & Carmen. You read many comments and its so much about Yulia as is the case even with your comment. There's often no mention of Riccardo its all about Julia. That to me is not a partnership of equality and why despite their 10 world titles I wouldn't list them (as a partnership) in my top 5 best of all time. Many wont agree but that's my personal opinion anyway and in the greater scheme of life it's only dancing. So it doesn't really matter that much. Cheers!

Joe Testa thank you for pointing out the imbalance aspect to partnerships, with R&Y and B&C. It is an important factor in how we perceive them as a whole. That is why, as much as I admire both these couples, for me Michael and Joanna were more equal and in tune. That is also my personal opinion. Anyway, when we talk about the top couples in the world it is all about ones personal taste. They are all brilliantly brilliant.

Agnieszka Majka - Gora. Delayed response. I'm heartened that you understand and appreciate what I am saying about partnership balance, because I am often attacked when I raise this issue publicly, particularly by The R&Y devotees. Not that it bothers me a great deal. Dancing is first and foremost all about balance, visually, physically, mentally, technically, dance ability, musically, artistically and every other way. Infact balance isn't just a dance, but a universal life law. Nothing can exist or look truly attractive if its not in balance and harmony and you are always left with the feeling that something just isn't quite right. I agree with your aspect with M&J. I was around when Brian Watson danced with Karen Hardy, with whom he won his first professional world title. This was a far better balanced combination I think, because Karen was a real dynamic show girl and I think complemented Brian far better than Carmen, who was a beautiful, but very different dancer. If a partnership looks to me visually, as though one is consuming too much of the available oxygen in the room, then that's an instant put off for me and that's what I feel when I watch many couples, including R&Y. I don't think many really have much idea of the paramount, critical importance of this single aspect of dance, and if they do they don't appear to see it. Anyway just elaborating on my previous comments so it might make even more sense to you, or anyone else that reads this. Good wishes!

This performance is so different from the performance I love, their UK Presentation dance (cha cha cha) this January. I commented on the UK DSI video: "Perfect cha cha starring Dasha better than ever." The UK dance is so light, joyful, electric. Compared to the fantastic performance in the UK, their Blackpool performance is hard, serious, fighting. It is almost impossible to see it is the same couple. That's why I liked Kirill and Polina better in Blackpool. They were top.

Babbycatt. Well said my dear. Couldn't have put it any better myself. You were there so your better placed than others who weren't. Like Hege boy who at times reading some of his ???? leads me to think he resides on a space ship somewhere and come to visit occasionally. I like reading your comments. near always on the money. Happy days.
