I share your enthusiasm for Steinhart watches. Ordered an Ocean 39 Green Ceramic - was so impressed by it I ordered an Ocean One GMT classic ceramic in the 42 mm size - like that one even better. Tremendous quality, great value for the money. Bezel on the 39 was tight when delivered, but has loosened up with use.

My Steinhart OVM is currently up for sale, but I just put the bracelet on and it looks so damn good. I might just pull it off the market and keep it!

Since I already found out that we have about the same wrist-size... you should definitely try and get your hands on the 39mm version. It wears much nicer than the 42 IMO and I do believe the smaller case-size works much better for all these Steinhart vintage-models. 42 OVM was my very first Steinhart, but when I found out about the 39, I sold it. When I went and bought the 39, I also checked out their Double Red, Explorer-dial Sub and Steve McQueen GMT in person (there's a Steinhart-boutique that happens to stock the Gnomon-models about 60kms from where I live) and they looked so much better than their 42mm counterparts. Well... couldn't tell for the Explorer-Sub, since that doesn't exist in 42, but still.. :)

I think it would be amazing in 39mm. I’m alway keeping my eye out for Steinharts. If one comes up at the right price I might have to get one.

Great review, thanks for sharing 🙂👍. To me, the lume could've been whiter. The bezel action is indeed stiff, it lets you know it's indeed a tool watch. And that's what I use mine for mostly. Great watch, especially for the money. Thanks again.

I like this watch so much that I got both the 42mm and 39mm versions. The bracelet doesn't matter to me, since I put NATO straps on both of them.

Great review and great watch! I bought the 39mm version from Gnomon Watches. You’re right, it’s an awesome watch overall. The only thing I wish it had was more AR on the crystal. Mine looks like a mirror sometimes I don’t think it has any anti reflective coating at all LOL

The dimensions on my Steinhart OVM is 39mm with 20 mm lugs . I thought the 41mm was the the Ocean1. ??????. I have beat the snot out of mine and it's still running fine. The only gripe I have is the bracelet ( jubilee) pinches me at the buckle. Still a good beater.

On the 39 mm ovm, they eventually went to the deep black dial that everyone wanted. I wonder if Steinhart has gotten rid of the non-homage matt dial as yet on the 42 mm?

That´s a great watch, great homage - but I completely disagree with you about the height of the watch and the way it sits on one's wrist. Rolex has the Oyster case, and here the watch strap comes out from the wrist, which is super weird. But the 5517 did not came with a metal strap, that was a nylon strap (NATO) so you will not have that "problem". Then you mention the cheap double lock, this will only help the watch look super cheap - instead, Steinhart should spend a little more money to hit the same function as Rolex, and others, with the fine adjustments on the clasp. The Rolex 5517 which this is an homage to will cost you around 206.000 USD in an okay condition with papers and the owners diving knife. I will never buy a Rolex for many, for me, good reasons - and this is where Steinhart definitely comes in and fills the "need" I have, they just make super good watches, and with an ETA movement, you're pretty close to have a super well-functioning, delicious watch in a really good quality.

In my opinion, the indexes are a bit large, on Vintage Red they are smaller and look more harmonious.

I’ve owned around 10 San martins. They are also great. But there is something really special about this Steinhart.

Despicable! I read years ago in GQ magazine (I'm a GQ kind of guy) that thou shall not ever wear a loose watch on your wrist. The first thing I noticed was in the intro your Steinhart slipped inches down from your wrist. Makes it look like you bought it from someone off the street. 😊

Hahaha. I should have worn a backwards hat as well. With my hairy wrists it is extremely uncomfortable wearing a watch tight. Plus I like the feel of it moving a bit. Australia is also a hot place and my wrist size changes significantly depending on the ambient temperature. Thanks for WATCHing

$100 rolex dial 5517 an 5513 knock off's come with ar double domed ar sapphire crystals these days ,no excuse in 2022 it comes with no ar coating , also gone are the luxury boxes they come in cardboard packaging which gets crushed in transit I sent both mine back. Both had Chinese homage aliexpress alignment issues , yours does too from that video that's pagani design level stuff not a Swiss movement microbrand

I did not know about the new packaging. The quality of this watch outshine watches twice the price of this one. I love AliExpress watches. But there is no comparison. If they have changed then that it a real shame.

@@teleguy5699 it’s out of warranty I had to have the work done by a licensed watchmaker (who does my Rolex’s) he said the gaskets are low quality, I have sold it now and bought a new daily beater a fugu Japan made Citizen
