Wonderful and informative! All of it made such sense! I had a nightmare trip to a hairdresser that left my hair warm blonde when I wanted cold - right after bleaching and toning my hair was rose gold, I think the toner was wrong and she would not admit to anything - and now I have the confidence to tinker with my hair again myself! For the record, I have previously bleached my hair by myself. Last time I had grown out my natural color and wanted to bleach the whole thing and needed a professional for that. Now I feel I can bleach my roots and hopefully, lighten the ends just a little bit, to get it ready for pastels.

Thank you for all the info!! You explain it sooooo good. (Sad sad story for some of the dark hair ppl….i hate deep emeralds, reds…all that ….i always loved neon and pastel colors….we have a solution tho: wigs, they are natural hair ones for decent prices that you can dye how you want ( i need to finish 2nd year of hairstylist so also can cut it and if you don’t go somewhere and they cut/ dye for you…wear the same hair the same day is boring…even if you love your natural hair/ deep colors/ have long hair or short… Well i’m writing too much loved the video. Ten peroxide volume is what i choose for a day of bleach and colors on my friends…spend the day at home and end with a new color while we do karaoke, see a contest….i mean for the developer. Never used Blondme but if it has a bond protector…will be mine for my shenanigans.

Don't be fooled by her. This is false and a lead on. Fals claims, either intentionally or ignorantly. Bleaching will ALWAYS, without fail, lead to some amount of damage. You can reduce the the damage, minimize the damage, keep the hair manageable and more or less structurally intact, but it is ALWAYS a damaging and destructive process. Saying otherwise on the first seconds of the video only shows that Stella HAS NOT understood the chemistry of the process - or only to the most basic degree. A process that is, to the contrary, not basic at all, of you really look into it. Bleaching is *always* an oxidative process that oxidizes - and thus irreversibly, permanently destroys, proteins (and other molecules) in the hair. Those proteins include the natural colour pigments, called melanins, eumelanin and pheomelanin, and structural proteins. Now there is no way if destroying the preoteins you want destroyed, the pigments, without destroying some of the proteins you want to ideally keep. Because they are attacked by the same process. Luckily, many of the structural proteins are a bit more resilient, or put differently, the pigment proteins are a little more susceptible than the structural ones. But still. That claim, that promise, at least in it's absoluteness ("...without damaging..") is wrong. Any cosmetic chemist will confirm. She is doing what many advertizers do: telling the consumers, what they want to hear, what they want to believe. That is the seduction of advertisements. Maybe she wants to believe it herself, may be she does believe it herself, but it is definitely not true. Damage can be minimized, not completely avoided. And ot is permament and will accumulate and worsen over time with each additional bleach or procedure.

I started going blonde early this year, and while I realise there has been some damage to my hair, because of the shampoo/conditioner I use and the healing mask, it's now very healthy and actually healing. Let me explain, before I ever started going blonde (from brown), I had a fair bit of sun damage done to the top layer of my hair. Sun damage is a actual thing, like with skin, it roasts your hair making it more frizzy than it'd normally be. With my hair it was moreso wavy on top than the nice curls I got underneath. Now that curliness is starting to show throughout my hair, not just the underneath layer despite the bleaching. When I tried bleaching it myself, afterwards it was quite damaged, so I always recommend going to an actual salon for bleaching, a good one at that. It's expensive, I know. It hurts my wallet majorly every time I go, but they lift my pigment enough that I'm seeing results and its not damaging it beyond repair. If you refuse to spend that kind of money, slowly lighten it over time and wait a couple month inbetween bleaches. Damage, let it settle, repair and then do it all over again. Use good shampoo/conditioner, they're not necessarily have to be expensive. The one that has saved my hair isn't the most expensive out there, but its done loads more for my hair than any others I've tried. This is AUD, but the most expensive I've tried was $40/bottle, meanwhile the one's I use now is $23/bottle. I always get it on sale cause they sell it at Coles and Woolies. It's Maui, perfect for us curly haired girlies.

Yeah I mean bleach is damaging but there are ways you can minimize the amount of damage it does. It took me a while to figure out how much bleaching my hair can actually handle. I'm naturally somewhere around level 4 (dark/medium brown) but getting it light blonde without any significant damage is not actually all that difficult for me. But any overlapping on already bleached hair, or bleaching my hair when dyed, is gonna fry it. Also because my hair is super fine, it lifts well but also snaps more easily. So going for a full head of blonde and maintaining the roots never ends well for me. But I can do highlights, balayage, money piece, etc, just fine. As long as I only ever bleach my natural hair, not previously dyed or otherwise treated. Although I can't get it completely crisp white. There will always be some yellow tones left. So I've learned that when it gets to a pale yellow, that's as bright as it gets, which is good to know to avoid over-processing. Knowing that, it doesn't so much matter how high or low volume developer I use. That said, I still often end up frying my ends on because I insist on going for a high contrast balayage with very light ends, and it's difficult to completely avoid over-processing when aiming for the lightest possible result, but... I don't consider this a major issue because I can always just trim off the ends if they get too damaged. Losing one inch of length (on long hair) is not a big loss. So I think if you wanna go crazy with bleaching dark hair super light, I think you should do just highlights and/or the ends, because that way you won't end up with a huge loss if things go wrong. At this point most of my hair is healthy but my ends are a little frazzled. I bleached it at home in a balayage style, which I've been doing for years by now, going from my natural brown to orange to pale yellow. I like the golden "brassy" tone (because it compliments my warm olive skintone) so I didn't do much toning.

I think it depends on what you are doing for example my hair is a light copper brown and i added two streaks in the front halfway down the hair no where near the roots only midshaft down, i didn't get any damage at all and i only left it on for 15 minutes, because it lightened quickly i use the bleach everyone dreads and calls garbage called clairol b20 i have never had a problem..i guess if you go drastically light im sure its a totally different story.

I actually melted my own hair by bleaching 3 times in one day 9+ level lift with 40 vol peroxide on BOX DYED BLACK BLUE HAIR. So my hair was black with blue highlights I did myself and I didn't know that the box dye had an activator in it. I'm used to semi permanent dyes or just pigment that sits on your hair. I knew chemically what I did to my hair but it took 3 times. I had no Oliplex or anything. I just stubbornly wanted this darn color out. Well, after I melted my hair and got it chopped off, colored, HILARIOUSLY blue (and purple) --bc I figured the blue needed to have one last huzzah since it destroyed my hair!!! lol I proceeded to rinse my hair once a week for four weeks in a vinegar solution, and put keratin bonding masks on it. I saved the rest of my hair that way. The ends were just done. DONEEEEEEE. lol Anyway now that I've been bleaching my hair for 17 years I can say with confidence it will never happen again as I learned the chemistry behind it as well. lol. Like I knew I denatured the keratin in my hair. Might as well figure out how I did it so I won't do it again! Now I use 10% peroxide shampoo baths with 7+ lift for 15 mins because I learned my hair lifts very quickly as it's already light--just not white like i want and it's between fine and medium texture. I think I'm one up from what's considered a light brown naturally. So in the dark blonde area.

@rickandshorty37
@rickandshorty37 Жыл бұрын
Hair follicles are not affected by dye. That’s a wive’s tale. If you’ve been dyeing your hair that long, it’s likely your hair naturally darkened and you haven’t had a chance to notice, or it needs more contact with the sun.

@@maddydavidsdottir9862i know people with a level 7 hair color who get light blonde strands when they go into the sun long enough. Just for everyone's information: coconut oil prevents bleach damage! It acts like a natural "olaplex", in my experience. Apply it on your hair, especially ends, before bleach or any other chemical colour treatment, and you'll see! (Caveat: I'm also naturally level 6-7, so for anyone with darker hair than that, YMMV.)
