I like that they thought specifically about how this would synergize with Synthetic Ascension, that not only makes a lot of sense but it means you can make a race that naturally synergizes well with it, I hope we got more features that will synergize with the Ascension paths in the future.

Who would ASpec bet on? Every other Sci-Fi species: *crafts ships of futuristic alloys equipped and armed with advanced futuristic technology* or Lithoids: *stick some shiny rocks into some not so shiny rocks and yeet them to space* Not gonna lie. Those rocks are pretty damn big, pretty damn scary and pretty damn pointy.

I'd love to see the plantoids consume energy instead of food

Everybody knows what species has to come next after those hard stonies, the gas beings we saved so often from their gas giant planet!

Next, we get energy-based species.

The other species types should be able to get special traits too. :\

I'd like to see them go back and change the plants to consuming energy and or minerals now that the code infrastructure is in place. Also Water worlds should have zero% habitability for the rock people.

So if we can have species abilities can they retro-add abilities to the other species or perhaps add a Species Civic slot to let us customize our species by choosing from, say, 3 possibilities unique to the species?

This is really cool. You missed the obvious comparison between them and the robot DLC (although I guess it was a bit more substantial) but I’ll take a handful of new ways to play for a fiver, whets my apatite for the game in the run up to federations which I guess is a couple more months away.

They could have made a new type of planet. Possibly like a hive world or machine world but instead it's a crystallized world specifically for lithoids.

Their greatest enemy? Noobmaster69...

So with the rocks having a few special traits and mechanics i wonder if they could update plantoid boys too, since they seem kinda vague now (probably main reason why i didnt get the dlc, it offers nothing except some pictures and textures), with human one, i atleast got dwarfs and elves and some cool ships, not much, but its something

I like this new approach. Noq, ff we could see updated ship models and unique specs for each species type - mammalian, reptilian, insectoid, etc - the refinement process of this already brilliant game will be well and truly underway

It's funny watching this in mid January 2021. I'm doing my morning bathroom duty. My experience with Lithoids thus far has been great. Aspec your the reason why I purchased Stellaris to begin with as I was getting board with Sid Meier's Civilization VI. I've had Stellaris over a year now and I still play Stellaris almost on a regular basis with Sid Meier's being the game I use to break up the monotony of boredom during this silly "Plandemic"....being a Chef by trade I've had an abundance of free time. Thank goodness for Bitcoin 😊.

Yo ASpec, nice meeting you at PDXCON! You kinda forgot to include their special hive mind civic. Instead of Devouring Swarm they have Terravore, which unlocks a special planetary decision to "eat" the planet. I'm not entirely sure what it does, but it sounded pretty cool.

The fanatic purifiers and murderbots are going to have a tough time justifying the murder of rare resources.

They seem perfect for a playstyle that focuses on the lategame, especially if you go syncretic evolution. ~ Once you hit repeatable techs, you can ignore the one for food which means getting your other social repeatables up faster. This means you just get the mineral boosting repeatable up, machine empires also have this advantage with energy and it should not be underestimated. The boost that this research focus gives you if you are short on colonies is huge when combined with livestock. ~ Their livestock allows you to produce minerals even on worlds with few/no mining districts (even ringworlds and habitats), meaning as long as you grow enough livestock pops, you cannot run out of minerals late game, meaning a ridiculous amount of alloy production and research. The high habitability bonus means if you are lucky to find a handful of planets, you can take them early and by the time other empires catch up in planet count, you will still have a competitive population despite the growth malus. Add the strategic resource traits you need least to the livestock pops for a small boost there as well. The ability to produce minerals anywhere is god-like. ~ As a minor benefit, you can take tons of planets and not have to micro the new pops as much because of the slower growth as well, which is nice in multiplayer where you don't want to drown in micromanagement in exchange for that big economy when you have 20+ colonies.

Time to rock out.
