So would Unstable Angina be considered an NSTEMI?

Thanks for your question! Unstable angina is not considered to be an NSTEMI. While cardiac changes may be noted on an ECG, cardiac markers are not altered as seen in NSTEMIs. Also, there may be plaque buildup in arteries with unstable angina, but there are not generally any occlusions as seen with NSTEMIs and STEMIs. Often unstable angina is a warning sign of an impending MI so must be treated as an emergency.
