Newer tracks will sound better than older tracks. You can assign it to your eq knobs and fine tune it. Or you can purchase a track with its stems which are already separated if quality is your goal.

First off, thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate them very much! There's two things that need to happen, and it sounds like you got the first down, which is remapping the MIDI keys inside of VDJ. Unfortunately, the second part is a little bit more tricky and I have failed if/when I tried to do it. From what I understand, there is an XML mapping file associated with your controller inside of VDJ's documents. There are LED functions inside that XML that need to be updated to correspond with your script. I have a Kontrol S4 and it notoriously never wants to cooperate with VDJ. I guess I'm saying that I feel your pain, and hope my quick tip on the XML file leads you down the path for your solution.

@@DJLeFave Wow, thanks for the quick response! Ok, yeah, I figured it wouldn't be simple, ha. I'll keep at it and come back here if I get good results. For now I'll leave my Pioneer XP-2 connected and select the stems that I want to apply FX to from there. Although, having 48 pads is a little overkill, haha

It looks like it is supported www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/americanaudio/vms4/installation.html I didn't see browse features, but they could possibly be mapped. Try those installation instructions first then holler if it's not there and we'll get to scripting/mapping some buttons for ya!

Hardware controls software. If those controllers can be mapped to vdj, they can do stems. If they can't be mapped, then that's the only reason why. Vdj let's you teach old dogs new tricks

@@DJLeFave Yea but on desktop its a dedicated thumbnail in your description area and it also appears on the right column in suggested. Been trying to figure out how that's done or if KZfaq is experimenting with certain channels. I know all the tricks except that one lol

Pad bank maybe? Look at the mapping for the denon prime go. It has only 4 buttons but has another button that accesses another 4 for the same buttons.

@@DJLeFave manual loop. hit cue and loop at the same time. i use serato but swapping back to vdj for video and this is stumping me. . serato video sucks!

@@bizzybdj I hear you man! That's one of the reasons I jumped from Serato. Did it right in the beginning of 2020, and it actually worked out well once we were all stuck at home lol. The video is great, but what I really love is the library. File/song management is, imo, much easier with VDJ. To give you some advice on your question, though, I think you should check out the CUELOOP padpage. Basically, this will both set and store a cue and a loop anywhere in a track that you can jump to and fro. If you want to have it as a manual two button smashing event, I'm sure there is a way to remap it, but out of the box this looks like it can do what you are looking for. Use the Pro Skin and then check the pad pages. You can even reassign the first 4 pages so that one includes the CUELOOP and then your controller instantly picks it up without any more mapping needed. That's what I have done with my DDJ-SZ...gave it some STEM control. Now all is right in the world.

Actually, that’s not what I want at all… I have a xdj-re and can access everything okay but I can’t access the stems from my deck, I have to click on them with the mouse… How do I change the beat jump button to show me the stems instead

It's pretty easy to do, especially if you don't use all of your pad pages currently. Do you or is there a free one? Basically yoi just reassign one of those pad pages from what they are currently to the stems pad page and you're good to go! I'll try to cover that in tonight's live stream. I just did that exact same thing on my flx4

@@DJLeFave yeah I have free pages, I only use the hotcue and loops, I tried adding them to the last button “beat jump” as I never use that but not sure of the commands process to make it happen.

Are you running stems on a track or as an fx?

@@DJLeFave I’m running live stems. So basically I want to activate an echo when I cut the vocals. I know you can activate fx via a seperate knob but it would be nice to just press one button to activate an echo and cut the vocals so it tails out. On Serato it has this option as a one push button.

@@peterlazarenko3267 I think I'm understanding, but just want to clarify one thing before I record this video... In this scenario, do have just vocals playing on one deck and instrumental is on the other deck? (or at least the intro to the next track?) Or, are you wanting vocals to echo out on the same deck? I'm pretty sure its the first, but wanted to verify.

@@DJLeFave I have full track playing on deck one then I’m bringing in deck 2 with instrumental then I want to echo out vocals on deck one with one push of a button leaving instrumental playing while I transition to deck 2 where vocals will come in. If that makes sense. Thanks

@rrro869 oh, I see now. That's an app. I'm not sure. I am able to map a stream deck and a touch portal over midi, but touch portal now has a dedicated vdj plugin that makes controlling vdj from a mobile device super easy and extremely customisable and all it costs is $14 for the lifetime pro license.
