All this week we'll be playing in our journals with the new stencils in the shop. Today we're prepping for our projects and going over the stenciling techniques that I do for all the projects.

So many ideas to re-invent some of our basic stencils! I tried stencils on tissue as in one of your videos and found that good quality glue sticks work well for glueing - and torn tissue edges blend well. Thanks for all the ideas!

Is your art journal just a notebook (with line paper covered with gesso?). This video is just so informative & fun

yes it's a composition notebook from the dollar store I cover the pages with gesso. I call it my nothing journal. Creating in it there's no pressure. I haven't spent a lot of money therefore I'm not afraid to try anything!

Wow so glad I found your channel. How fun‼️. But I don’t understand what you mean when you “stamp” the stencil?

you use your stencil like a stamp. I do it all through the video. I paint the stencil and then stamp it paint side down.

Thank you so much for these tips!!!! I have really been frustrated with my stencilling attempts, and I believe that these tips are the solution to the problems I have been having. Also, can you tell me what the blue cloth is that you are using for dabbing and lifting paint? It seems to work so well; I would like to try it myself.

Thanks Cathy, I hope this helps. I use Scott shop towels. They are disposable and yet reusable and don't break down or leave lint.

Is the tissue paper a special kind or can it be from DollarTree ?

any kind if I can find it I get it from the dollar store. sometimes white is hard to get there.

Love your stencils, but they are prohibitively expensive to order if you are not in the US. Shipping ends up being more than the value of the stencils.

Yeah, I wish there was a cheaper way. But that's the cost for us.
