Yeah it’s definitely a cool little project and it’s a whole heck of a lot cheaper than buying one outright ha ha ha! I just wanted to be able to help show people that they can build one if they can’t afford a new one 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed it!

That ammo can brings back memories. We used to use them to store food while camping. Made great toolboxes/ storage as well. You could get different sizes at gun shows- the real metal ones. Some are made of plastic now. This would be a great, portable fire source for hunting or camping. Thanks for showing this. Stay safe and GOD bless

Oh yeah, those ammo cans are great for anything! I have to look into what other sizes there are I just figured 50 Cal would be one of the larger boxes but I might look to see if I can find a larger one to make a fire pit. Ha ha ha.

Lava rocks are quite prevalent in HOT climates like the central Valley of California but more prevalent in the desert climates like eastern California, Nevada, Arizona , New Mexico and west Texas

As far as I know the folks who drill holes in the side do it for when they're making the burner themselves by drilling a hole in some pipe. I noticed your burner has air inlets next to the propane inlet, supposedly drilling the holes in the side of the box does the same thing and allows it to burn without black smoke! I think it's a similar principle to those smokeless firepits

This right here is a basic .50 caliber ammo can, you can get these all day. And this right here is a M2 Browning machine gun which we will be mounting on the front of the GMC. Let's get started.

If you go up the mountain, heading towards Jerome from the Prescott Valley side. There are a few really sharp hairpin turns and on a couple of those turns if you slow down and look, there are little gravel roads leading off of those turns and if you follow those back there are some pretty amazing sites back there! Although they’re pretty deep into the woods, so there’s not much in the way of views. If you’re wanting views, you can Google the Woodchute trail, which is at the very top of the mountain above Jerome and if you drive back to that trailhead and make a left, there is a dirt road that follows out pretty far and you’ll eventually hit campsites that are sitting right on the edge of the mountain, and they have pretty cool views

Great idea .. my concern would be how close the rubber hose is from the metal side which would get quite hot … any way to expose more of the burner to distance the connection?
@worklessenjoylifemore
@worklessenjoylifemore 9 ай бұрын
I was a little worried about that at first, but it doesn’t really seem to get that hot down there where the fitting is at. The burner itself sets up so high that all the heat seems to stay towards the top of the can, at least that’s where all the paint is peeling off from ha ha ha ha

@@worklessenjoylifemore ok $173 seems fair enough considering a brand name new on is like $200. But I’ll only $173 if you autograph it! 😁 BTW…Hope your piggy bank will hold 17,300 Pennies! Brinks truck should be there by Noon tomorrow lol

I made one of these and it melted the steel braided propane hose at the burner fitting. The heat transfer was just too much. Any ideas?
@worklessenjoylifemore
@worklessenjoylifemore 4 ай бұрын
Oh, really? The only other idea I would have is to move the burner up higher so most the heat escapes instead of heating the sides of the ammo can
