It's crucial to provide good dental impressions for us to fabricate the perfect aligners for your treatment. If the impressions we receive in our Lab are unworkable, we may need to send you a new impression kit at an additional cost.
Before you make the actual dental impressions, it's important to practice first. Take the extra set of putty and mix it according to the instructions. Then, spread the putty evenly inside the tray and follow the steps I'm about to show you.
Let's also mention what counts as a poor first impression and how to avoid it.
Reason #1: Drag marks on the impression. Drag marks can occur if the putty has not fully set and is removed too soon. Make sure to wait until the putty is completely set before removing it.
Secondly, don’t move the tray when holding it in your mouth to avoid drags. To prevent tray movement, hold the tray in place with your fingers. When removing the tray do it in one swift motion.
Reason #2: White streaks are present. The blue and white putties should be mixed until there are no streaks.
Reason #3: Uneven pressure. Apply equal pressure on all teeth, including the molars. You should feel the putty touching your gums both in the front and back.
Once you have completed all the impressions, it's time to send them back to us. Use the provided prepaid return label to ship all four impressions back to us (for international customers, email your Smile Specialist for the return mailing address).
Once we receive your impressions in our lab, it will take us approximately 7-10 business days to create your Smile Projection. Upon your approval of the Smile Projection, we will begin working on your aligners. This process typically takes around 3 weeks.
