My biggest take away from this video is honestly that I’m ignorant. I thought I knew a lot about barbering, but in reality all of that “knowledge” doesn’t translate to more income. These little nuggets you put in this video just show me I have a lot more to learn about running a barbering business.

“A barber for EVERYONE is a barber for NO ONE” was mind blowing as hell. In the last year of watching your videos I’ve been implementing this belief system more and more that being SPECIFIC and FOCUSED with your work provides better results than trying to be someone who’s able to do everything, which leads to just being someone who’s average at all the things they do

Each and every barber, should take a step back, reflect on what they are doing, see where they are headed, because most of the time, we're a horse without an owner... just going through life without goals... taking a step back and making sure you have goals to achieve is what I'm taking from this video... either trying to get rid of bad habits in the shop, and cutting hair, or trying to elevate your business, and charging more. been seeing your videos.. and I met someone who you're helping elevate his business, the more i watch, the more I hear, the more motivated I am, and want to Grow

My biggest take away is as a license barber was wen first starting out seeing all these barber influencers trying to compete with them not knowing what I know now like the skill will come you will get better the time on cutts will pick up more influencers should put disclaimers on videos to not make one first starting out you need to be like this your cutts should be like this and you need to speak like this if you first starting out see videos but also understand these people that uploaded videos tutorials are at a point we’re there comfortable to show there process on a Cutt for others to learn you don’t get that confidence overnight if you have love for the art the industry and you keep pushing you will succeed I was at a point started barbering seeing all these videos like I can do it but once I got the courage to do it it literally took 2+ hours to execute a Cutt that was decent but never lost hope kept grinding learning cutting up friends neighbors strangers till I got better and eventually got my license started cutting at a shop I thought I was cool but I was still learning I was at a point in the shop I started cutting up and I was messing up people once I was like during a Cutt I should stop and maybe I shouldn’t do this I wanted to get up and leave the shop of embarrassment but I kept at it and eventually became a decent barber and fast forward 10 years now a beast quality cutts celebrity clientele and not to mention regular people not celebrities willing to pay $100-$300 for a house call sky the limit never give it you guys got this

I think that my key take away is that it’s hard to take feedback if we don’t watch for it ourselves. So why not make that video and start looking at what you can improve and hey you might get content out of it. Second is that specialized clientele is important. So that leads me to focus on my niche client base on the social leaving me to work on my skills beyond that. Maybe focusing on that one thing I want to improve each time and focusing I can get good at that one thing and then move on to the next thing I’m gonna specialize in. I also found it rewarding that I took my time and learned how to get neat and took that time in the beginning and now it’s paying off because my work is neat and I can see what I need to improve on a little easier. “Mastery and specialized skills get paid more” which is true and it’s always good to make a list of goals especially in this new year.

My biggest take away from this video is; I have to be able to take criticism wether it’s good or bad especially as a young barber it’s more crucial to listen and learn from experienced barbers, I have to be able to analyze my work and self criticize my own work and reflect on it. Being able to look at my fade and make sure it’s perfect is something I need to work on and make sure my work is neat and not rushed just because I want to get to other clients and make “make more money”, I should instead be focusing on making my work better so the clients that do come through are happy with the haircut service or haircut and beard and by doing just that can help me raise my price and build future cliental that are willing to pay the 50-100 dollar price because they know my work is good and efficient and they know that I have specialized my skills to the type of service they want

This is my biggest takeaway. Me personally starting out was a "pain in the ass", I can say fear of messing up the haircut could also play a contributing factor of having a sloppy hand movements or as you said hand discipline, but with an open mind and a learning behavior and also "not being prideful" of you thinking you know it all actually goes a long way. Again there was a big point you made: where I come from Nigeria, most barbers believe cutting everyone would make you more money, which they succeeded in making me believe that doing children's and women's haircut which I didn't like and which I didn't know how to cut (women) would give me a leverage over the market, but at the end I wasn't making enough money and saw myself cutting hair for a long time and ending up like the OG Barber's So with that: 1. Have a good cutting system and keeping improving on it over time 2. Don't believe the crap they tell you about cutting everyone one cause at the end of it looking at them you sincerely don't want to have the life they live💯

my biggest takeaway is that just like professional athletes, reviewing your footage, having others to give you feedback will help you get closer to perfection bc you realistically can’t achieve perfection. it’s also important to know that to gain clientele, you can be a master of not all crafts but really master one which will make u stand out. quality over quantity essentially.

Understanding that building clientele does doesn’t necessarily equate to growing your business. Almost as if instead of supply and demand, it’s more demand then supply. From 00:24-00:54 I can relate to. Without even recording myself I can see in my head that I lack hand discipline. I could literally “cut” about 25 minutes off my haircuts if I had a better routine. We always as people love to tell others what they need but for some reason it’s most difficult for us to take our own advice. A jack of all trades is a master of none. Stay in one lane and be the best at that one thing.

@thebookofmorrio7710
@thebookofmorrio7710 Жыл бұрын
That’s real. Even if the criticism is more negative than constructive, if you expect to be the best at what you do and you want to be on “G.O.A.T” status, to assume the whole entire world is just going to love and respect you is going to hurt you. If I was to be in my feelings towards my career, clientele, or even some comment left on my post, I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t last long in my career. Not everyone thinks MJ was the greatest, some people can’t stand Tom Brady. And even though they had to put the work in to get where they’re at, I’m sure all the doubts and negative criticism was all fuel to the fire. Use that negative energy to fuel you and not drain you. In order for your remote to work, your batteries gotta have a positive and negative side to be able to function.

My biggest takeaway is that when barbers get sloppy, they tend to look outward. They blame lighting, clients, and clippers. Once they record themselves, I believe they will see, like the barber you described, their flaws will shine, and it's then up to them to make the change. Self reflection is what's gonna change someone, and having that athlete like mindset of watching and studying yourself will ultimately make you a better barber and eventually student in the EM program.

@dlucs_ I've noticed I don't have a set system. I go back, and I doubt myself a lot more than i realized. Instead, I can say this is steps 1,2, and 3. I used to get lost in the sauce when I didn't record myself and now I catch myself before I start going crazy . My biggest takeaway is to keep things simple, barbering isn't supposed to be complicated. Stop overthinking and just do the work!

My biggest take away from this is exactly what you said yourself act like a professional athlete. Does anyone really think a professional athlete is never gonna watch film on themselves? They watch how they run, throw a football, catch, there 3 pointer, swing a baseball bat and etc. They do that because in order to perform at a high level you need to access whats wrong and start dissecting and making a plan on how to fix that. Same with any type of business, who wants to run a half ass business? Everyone strives for perfection and only way to do that is take a quick look in the mirror, take a seat and evaluate what you do wrong and what you do right with whatever career field it is that you are in and then make a plan of attack and execute it
