I visited Graceland in 2016. Only went because I was in Memphis, not because I was an Elvis fan. Afterwards I totally became an Elvis fan! We loved it!

I’ve been to Graceland a few times and always in awe. Every music lover needs to make a pilgrimage to Memphis at least once in their life. It’s the birthplace of blues, soul and rock & roll.

I was there shortly after he died and toured the house. It still had his record collection sitting next to the TVs in the basement room just as he left them. it was a very strange feeling knowing he had been there not so long ago in those very rooms. The house seems more sterile now. Back then it seemed to have a more lived in personal feeling. The day we were there, they brought in his jet from the airport. They had taken off the tail and the end of the wings and pulled it all the way from the airport up Elvis Presley Boulevard and backed it into place. There were guys up on the top lifting stop lights over it as they came up the street so they wouldn`t drag on the jet. It was very cool. And of course we saw his grave out back of the house- that was a very somber sight.

When you said "living like a rockstar.", I thought the interior of the house would have over the top styling. The interior is really nice for its time.

A great opportunity to know Elvi’s place. What surprises me the most was the three TV he used to watch at the same time. Nice site where horses are. The billar table is beautiful, so is the piano.

It was a great thrill to visit Graceland in person in 1997. I loved every part of it, especially the pool room. There is alot of development around the home so it's not isolated anymore. Just so sad that he and his daughter and grandson died so young.

5:38 Seems the King had a bit of ADHD. I know the struggle, I can't sing or play guitar. But I do have my TV on while watching this AND listening to a baseball game. 😳🤷‍♂️ As a note about the house: It's 100x more tasteful than I expected!

Great that you're visiting around the country. If you make it to Bartow Florida (Polk County), look up The Wonder House. It was a DIY house of sorts and is now open for tours again. It was a destination in the early 1900s. Also, we have so many Spanish style homes to see. Plus Lakeland's (next door city) Lake Hollingsworth/Cleveland Heights area has a lot of history too.

Hi Ken. If you are doing a Living Like Rock Stars series of videos, I have a request. Tower House in Kensington, London, was built by architect William Burges in the late 19th century and has been owned for many years by Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. Thanks for all your good work!

The three-tv console was an idea he got from President Johnson, who famously watched a 3 tv console. Also, sadly, he was extremely constipated the day he died and was trying to p**h it out when he collapsed. So sad. But that happens when you take a lot of opiates.

I always assumed it was the nuevo riche in Elvis that made this house rather... declassi. Yet it appears the original house itself was, in fact, an early version of the current day McMansion. At least it's a pilgrimage for his fans.
