In today's video I'll be going over one of most basic advanced you can make in CNC Plasma Signage. Multi-layered CNC Plasma Cut Signs bolted to a square tube frame give the sign much more a presence than just flat cutouts while also making mounting to uneven surfaces easier.
Check out THISS Batteries at bit.ly/THISSbat... and use code "42Fab" for a 10% discount! I was genuinely surprised that these batteries held up as well as they did.

Great video. One thing you might consider is to use stainless steel Tapcons for exterior installations in the future. They are harder to find but I sleep better knowing I'm not relying on just a powder coating to prevent corrosion from causing them to fail over the course of years. Also, I like going into brick / stone when I need a solid connection but am always wary of blowing out the brick and sometimes will start with a glass and tile bit in a non-rotary hammer to prevent that from happening

Some advertising is to be expected, it takes a lot of time away from the shop to edit videos, and people have to make a living. Don't hold it against them unless they pitch crap they wouldn't actually use.

Those aftermarket batteries go into thermal shutdown way easier than the genuine DeWalts. Ok for winter use but when it heats up here in the central valley they are a pain in the ass.

Love the channel. Just wondering why you rarely wear gloves? Seems like something that makes sense for the sheets of metal you work with.
@42Fab
@42Fab 4 жыл бұрын
We wear gloves when needed. Any metal thicker than 16ga is basically not sharp, so we're not worried about cuts, for thinner stuff we wear gloves as needed with them being mandatory with anything 20ga or less. When grinding, I am in the "no gloves around spinning objects" camp as I'd rather get sliced by a tool or workpiece then have some part of me or my employees drawn into a tool by a snagged glove. When welding, the hand closest to the gun is most often covered, though we'll admit to tacking things up bare from time to time. The dutch Health and Safety organization (IDK the actual name) did a study on welders in the 80s and 90s and found that the only example of skin cancer was one guy with it on his nose, which they ruled as an outlier. The primary concern is not UV exposure but burning, which is why the operating hand (in my case, the right) is often ungloved. As fabricators, we are not laying into welds all day, we're transitioning from task to task, meaning we need the dexterity of an ungloved hand. Anecdotes do not make rules, but in 7 years the worst cut I've gotten is a laceration on my pinky from moving a sheet of 20ga, where as I have had MANY burns from mistakenly grabbing things that were hot, most often from where someone else welded or ground a piece and I touched it thereafter, meaning that my gloved PPE during welding would have made no difference. It's a fair questions, and everyone gets to make their own decisions. I'll respect yours, but I'll only tolerate the same respect in return.

ever heard of stencilling a font ? can save yourself a lot of work and no double side tape dropouts and a pissed of client,. the rest is fine and make sense, if your cut speed set correct, less dross to clean up with wire brush
@42Fab
@42Fab 5 жыл бұрын
And you end up seeing bridges. Stencilling is appropriate in lower cost projects, single layer work, and for unskilled sign makers. In 6 years, I have had one counter fall off and the client was warned and still wanted their sign installed in sub freezing temperatures. If you're worried about falling parts, you've never used VHB tape

Howcome you don't get shocked by the machine when you touch the metal while it's working?
@42Fab
@42Fab 4 жыл бұрын
Electricity takes the path of least resistance. The ground clamp (hidden at the far end of the table) is a much better conductor than going through me, my boot sole, then through the concrete floor, and ultimately the rubber feet of the plasma cutter itself.

I would strongly advise you to NOT buy these batteries! I bought 2 of the 4ah ones for my Ryobi tool set. Within 1 minute of using one of them it started smoking and put off a terrible burnt electronics smell. I sent the company several emails regarding the fact that I am concerned about the possibility that this battery may catch fire and asked them what I should do about getting replacement. I have gotten absolutely NO response from them regarding the issue. At this point I dont know if it is safe to use it. Every time I try to use it the odor gets very strong again. I am storing it outside until it fully discharges. I suspect there is a problem with the balance board inside . The other battery seems to be working OK. My issue is not that there is a problem with the battery but what you can expect for customer service out of this company. Everyone has problems with their products but something that could possibly burn your house down or wore yet injure people clearly should NOT be ignored.

Nice video, but for the love of god, wear gloves!
@42Fab
@42Fab 3 жыл бұрын
If you want to wear a glove around a spinning tool, by all means go for it, I would much prefer the chance of an abrasion on the skin (which a glove could maybe stop) over the chance of a glove drawing my fingers into a spinning tool if it were to snag. No glove you'd want to wear is going to stop a major puncture wound, so that's a moot issue. Personally I am aware of where my body is, I cannot be aware of where the accessories on it are with that same "resolution" The "gloves and spinning tools" argument is going to go on forever, and everyone gets to have their opinion. For me, and in my shop, gloves do not get used with spinning tools. I'm not going to critique if you decide differently for you or your shop, nor am I going to tolerate a debate about something that is objectively an opinion. You do you, I'll do me.
