So, when performing a triple axel the jumper actually rotates 3 and 1/2 revolutions. This is what makes it difficult. Stephane has always had an unstable triple-axel and ever since the injury it became even more difficult to execute. But he is by far the most elegant and gracious male skater EVER :) Long live the Little Prince :))

Judging by the level of difficulty and points awarded for it the most difficult jump is actually a quad jump (toeloop or salchow). But I suppose you can say the triple axel is the second most difficult jump. Most jumps when taking off forward are landed forward, and when taken off backward are landed backward (different kinds of jumps require different edges at taking off and at landing). The axel however, is a taking-off-forward and landing-backward kind of jump.
