Brees absolute prime was wasted and it’s a shame. For years the Saints had literally one of the worst defenses of all time. I remember games where Brees had to put up 40 just to win. Amazing career either way, it’s going to be sad without him even tho he’s clearly not the same anymore.

@WilliamCWayne 3 жыл бұрын
40 wasn't even a guaranteed win in those years. The whole reason Brees has so many 5000 yard passing seasons is because he was trying to overcome the bad defensive play. I read that in Brees' career, he's had something like 22 game winning drives erased in the final 2 minutes because the defense let the other team march right down the field and score in the final seconds.
@User_491jx6f
@User_491jx6f 3 жыл бұрын
Yup, Drew HAD to put up those crazy passing stats every year to compensate for an underperforming defense. I remember an epic shootout a few seasons back between the Saints, and the Giants where Eli Manning threw for 6 touchdowns, so Drew threw for 7 to win the game. Saints started building a solid defense the next season, but Brees was in his late 30’s by then, and the window was closing...

The argument over his Superbowls and mvps is retarded. Superbowls are a team award, tom brady played with a top 5 defense for all of his 6 rings. There are two categories of QB rankings... Most Talented... and Best Career. No one would put Brees in Most Talented. That belongs to names like Manning, Mahomes, Marino, Elway, Rodgers, Favre etc. However, he had a chance for being mentioned in Best Career... Brady, Montana, Bradshaw, Graham. It's hard to see, I remember watching Brees all the time, he was a great quarterback, and when you reach a certain age like Brees, you want one more Super Bowl. Like Peyton, win one, then ride off into the sunset. It's hard to look back on pretty much the past 5 seasons. They had the team, the weapons. And one mess up on defense, one awful missed call, one overtime td pass, one game where they fall short. Some of it wasn't even the teams fault. It's sad to see that Brees couldn't get one more. As much as I want my Packers to win it all, it would've been nice to see Brees ride off into the sunset.😢😭

@@midwestdolo818 See but did the defense throw the ball to the WRs nah they didnt... Eli drove the ball down the field to help us get a clutch TD that we needed to even have a chance at winning the first face off. Eli also was Superbowl MVP twice so I dont want to hear that.

@@Maddenlegend4ever Might not be what you wanna hear but thats what the critics always gonna say. The defense carried them, you know why Brad Johnson gets no credit for beating the prolific league MVP Rich Gannon and his Raiders? The defense, how about Joe Flacco and Trent Dilfer when they led those Ravens teams to rings? The DEFENSE it is what it is bro sure I agree Eli made the plays but he wont get the credit he probably deserves because he was a average QB

As a Saints fan, I’m numb to last night’s disappointment. I’m sad he goes out like this, but his performance last night, along with Cook, was terrible. The guy is old, Tom is older, but his injuries caught up to him and he definitely wasn’t 100%. But he’ll go down as a NOLA legend. And Stephen A. is absolutely right! No one has ever gave him the props that he deserved, so to even say this game was it, it would have been excuses even if he won.

I couldn’t agree with Max more he is so right it would’ve been great to see Drew Brees win another one before he retires and with how great he has been over the years you would think he would’ve had at least 3-4 rings by now. The defense and all that has let up in big moments during the duration when they get in playoffs but it improved immensely this season and I believe this was his best chance. He still has another year on his contract I really hope he plays it out and can play through a 16 game span during the regular season because in the last 2 seasons he has not been able too but either way Brees is up there in top 10 for sure but going out the right way would’ve been even better.

Like with Rodgers we have to ask the question - do we blame the team/front office or do we blame the QB for staying anyway? Also we say Brees had no defense but Tom won without elite weapons often. Either way, instant hall of famer and an all time talent.

As a Saints’ fan I love my team but at the end of the day I am tired of every year we go to the playoffs and lose again and again. I still support and love my team but at this point I’m far too disappointed. For Drew Brees he’s one of the greatest but in order to be the man you gotta beat the man and you couldn’t get it done. All you can say now is that you’re the only Quarterback to have a winning record against him but what does that mean if you don’t beat him when it matters the most? That’s all I have to say.

I love Pat Mahomes and he may end up be the greatest......but he is not ahead of Drew Brees in the all time rankings lol he needs to be consistent for 10 years to be in that conversation. That's what makes Drew Brees so good how long he was great, same with Brady, Rodgers, Favre, Manning, Montana, Marino....its that they were the best for a long time, Mahomes will probably be there but he is not there yet

Top 10 QBs: Locks: Brady, Manning, Montana, Elway, Mahomes, Rodgers. Grandfather in: Unitas, Staubach. That would be 8 plus Marino and Favre. I agree with Max, this loss probably gets him out of that convo and more in the Big Ben, Russell Wilson, Terry Bradshaw group.

Even with only one ring Drew Brees will be in the Top 15 QB's of all time. He might even get is jersey retired tbh that's what he's meant for NO. Would've been great if he could've cemented himself in the top 10 maybe, but he'll be an all time great no question. And that's not too shabby.
