It's very much like Tom Landry at the end. You can't deny the success he had and what he meant for the team. But it's also clear this isn't working anymore, and it's time. Cowboys would've never been a 90s dynasty if they rode Landry to the end. They needed the new vision of Jimmy Johnson to reach that level. You can't get nostalgic or sentimental in this business.

Excellent analogy. Landry had great success but it was clear his time had passed. At his age, I can't imagine any organization with common sense giving him a head coaching position. At the most he could be now is an advisor or consultant.

@@jayjya, very true. They had a plan by bringing in Jimmy Johnson and drafting smart but they were allowed to execute the plan. In the modern NFL, they want an immediate turnaround and very few coaches can go 1-15 without being on the hot seat and calls for dismissal.

Simple they had the talent the problem they had is for the past three seasons their plays callers had changed. When Matt Jones arrived they had Josh Mcdaniels then he left because he got picked up as a head coach, then they replaced with two coaches Matt patricia and Joe Judge and now they brought in bill obrien by default the team changed dynamically 3 times in 3 seasons yall expect them to be better?

Now, without Brady to hold up the offense, Bill is below average. If you look around the league, there's lots of Coaches who are doing well with bad rosters. And there's lots of teams that have great defenses. That means nothing anymore if you can't score points.

Belichick can't stay on as coach. He benched Malcolm Butler for Super Bowl 52, he did not ever develop Mac Jones and/or Bailey Zappe, he decided to punt while trailing by 10 against the Chiefs in the second half of that game, DeVante Parker was benched multiple times when he should have been in the game, etc. This all stems from coaching. The Patriots' culture needs a reset.

Mac Jones can't be developed. He's a joke. In the end, Belicheck walks away with more rings and wins than any modern coach. Don't feel too bad. No team stays on top forever, and rebuilding is never a guarantee.

We are going to see how good of an owner Robert Kraft really is because he is truly not a good owner he focuses too much on race based politics related to israel and he has relied too heavily on Tom Brady and not enough in the draft. I feel like he could still work as a coach but more as a DC instead since that's where he actually shows how good he is. They need an actual GM and they need an actual OC, not a special teams guy or a former DC but someone whose job is offense. That just leaves the HC position where, you know maybe wait to see who gets fired or gamble on a new guy

Im fortunate and blessed to relive and replay 20 years oglf greatness!! I love Brady since his college. And stayed hungry to win until his last snap. But Belichick coached him, knew and saw he would be better than Bledsoe ever was. "Obviously as we all see now" Bill is the one who made QB'S Ultimate recievers, a La Crosse player an amazing reciever, White, Blount, Gronk, Hernandez, Moss. All he's done, as Brady is the greatest and NO-ONE WILL TOUCH WHAT HE'S DONE. He needed his coaches. Keep Bill, and go get some talent!!!!!! Jad you have done what Brady wanted, we'd have 7 Bowl Championships!!

With the way the Patriots Defense finished the season, I dont see the urgency. There's more attractive jobs for Ben Johnson. Who will be the coach and why would a rookie QB be in a better position to succeed?
