Are you sometimes confused as to how to identify your Cat's eye type marbles ? Here's a guide to help sorting the different cat’s eye marbles that were produced from the various glass marble companies. In this video we include the cat’s eye marbles that we’re produced by Marble King, Vitro Agate, Peltier Glass , C.E. Bogard, and Vacor De Mexico, as well as vintage cat’s eyes from Japan and Asia.
Thank you to Kathy Huggins, Gabrielle Boyd, Nick Reynolds, Elizabeth Kempski, Steve Kaplan, Rosie Besinaiz and Pam Ingle for your assistance.
Music by Kaplan/ Caluori and the Clayhole Bros.
To purchase "The World Of Cat's Eye Marbles" book : Visit Ebay.com and look up Ebay seller ID pinx43 and search "The World Of Cat's Eye Marbles".

We lived directly across the road from the St. Marys Marble King factory and watched that wonderful building burn down. My brother and I would play on top of the piles of colored glass thinking we could find a diamond in those piles of glass.😄.....and might add that we were bare footed. Two tuff brothers. So enjoy your video's.

To all you diggers and collectors. I helped make these marbles plentiful for diggers. I helped make them rare and valuable for collectors. I sent gallons and gallons of them through a flip Jack as a child. I even learned how to reglaze windows in the Victorian house thanks to this marble flippiny skill.😜

Wow! I never realised just how much variety there is! 😲. We used to have names for 3 vane single colour marbles, and ones that thanks to your video I've learnt are called Amsterdam swirls (we called them China's) 3 vane single colour Marbles were known as Terryglow's, there were Clay's which were solid terracotta marbles, and Steeleys aka ball bearings. The larger size marbles were known as Dollickers.

@@stephenbahrmarbles Hi Stephen! I'm in Scotland and the common collective nickname for marbles were known as "Bools" and that probably stems from the French "Boule" . What I'd like to know since I was a wee boy is, how do they get those coloured vanes etc in there?

I remodel old homes from 1900 onward and occasionally find marbles. Just found 40 or so in a wall cavity that also had 1950 newspapers stuffed in various holes to keep the drafts out. Will probably seal them back up in the wall in a jar and a note from me as a time capsule for the next guy to find in 75 years.

I say keep the marbles leave a couple with a note and a copy of today's newspaper next to the 1950s newspaper. I once met a demolisher who happened to be involved in The demolition of the San Francisco Chronicle and in hiS house had perfect newspapers from all the most important events in the last 50-60 years. This was 37 years ago but can still remember the faces of Elvis, John Kennedy, Princess Diana, the Challenger, Martin Luther King, it was like a time capsule still floating around in the Bay. The constant humidity in the Bay area kept the newspapers pristine like they were right off the press.

I have a whole bunch of them and would love to give them a date. From my understanding modern marbles are much more clear glass with very little bubbles so ive been using slightly tinted glass and heaps of bubbles as a guide to age them. Thanks alot!

Hi Itsacher and thank you ! I believe Asian Cats Eyes first started producing in the early 1950’s. Dating them is difficult for me, as they all seem to have tinted green base no matter how old they are. Perhaps the vanes are fuller with the older ones , but beyond that, I don’t think I can reliably age them.

That sounds like a Vacor De Mexico trait, they did make a caged style cats eye.

Hey Stephen I have a clear marble with the eight outside veins but they are white, not multicolored. Is it a catseye?

Hello Steven I just watched your video and I've always tried to buy any old marbles at flea markets, garage sales, and you know the one tiny little store in a small town that has all the kick naks and oddities and other gems. Anyways it was awesome learning about different types but I feel like I still need to identify some of the other marbles in my collection. My question is this, are marbles like baseball cards where there are assigned values to certain kinds. Older ones worth more. Is their a typical price guide for marbles especially vintage marbles or am I off in thinking that's possible. How do guys like you assign value to certain marbles or what makes some more valuable than others. Thank you in advance if you have any information,?!?😊

Hi Josh and thank you for watching! There are no exact price guides for marbles. A lot of it has to do with the condition of the piece, it’s rairity and collectors trends . They all fluctuate a little but machine-made marble companies like Christensen and Peltier are usually higher priced and retain their value over time. The older German handmades are the most expensive in general. There’s alot of layers to it. I hope this helps somewhat.

Hi Wesley, it sounds like they might be error marbles, where some of the crucibles were clogged during production. You can email photos to me at sbahr@scarletknights.com and I could take a look. Thank you

I'm sure you would remember it if it came I had wrapped it in black and white duct tape the reason I contacted you is I'm going back to where I found it and was hoping to maybe find the purple or agua or the white one to this set the 1939 license plate at this dump was the only clue that led me to discovering what the marble was.any way to make a long story short I was thinking about you and after a couple of years of not seeing your videos you popped up on my u tube feed just a week before I'm going to the dump if you didnt get it I'm sorry I boxed it real good when I sent it !
