I'm 84 years old. My first year of teaching at a Community College in New York State was an Eye opener for me. The head of the Bio department called us all in on a Saturday to order what we would need for our department in the next year. We were allotted to spend a total of $25,000. After several hours we finished our lists and turned them in to our department head, He told us that we had not ordered enough equipment to total our allotted $25,000 and that we would have to order more equipment until we had spent our total of $25,000. I spoke up (totally naive dork that I was} that we would be thought of as good citizens who cared about the Tax Payers money by spending only what we needed for our classes. ( HaHa! ) We were ordered to spend the rest of our allotted budget before we could go home. We did as ordered. Our leader explained that if we spent less than our allotted $25,000, next year our budget would be cut. {This is a true story. The names have been changed to protect the dopes}

It took my husband 6 mo and a certified copy of his birth certificate from the State Dept (born in Germany to active military parents) to file for SS, after being a state LEO for 32 yrs. I just signed up OVER THE PHONE in about 10 minutes...no proof of anything (although I am eligible and paid in for 40 yrs.) I was astounded! I wanted to come into an office to file, but they are all STILL WORKING FROM HOME!

I was baptized Catholic and attended Mass in Latin every Sunday. As children we didn’t understand the purpose as we preferred being outside with our dogs and climbing trees. Perhaps the exposure to a foreign language perked my curiosity of other lands and motivated me to learn other languages. I also think it helped me get the through PreMed Program at UCI. We live in a tourist beach town in between Santa Barbara and San Francisco and recently we have seen more people staying in RVs In parking lots here. There is an Old one with homemade signs on it showing how to research the Cloward-Piven Strategy. I think we understand why our friend in the FBI retired early.
