Steve Coll, journalist and staff writer for The New Yorker, reads from "Directorate S", the follow-up work to his Pulitzer Prize-winning "Ghost Wars". In "Directorate S" Coll looks at the small-scale covert operations carried out by the U.S. in Afghanistan against the I.S.I., Pakistan's intelligence agency.

I have read the book, although don't agree with most things he said about Pakistani and our forces still a great read.

The biggest mistakes of US in Afghanistan as a super power in stupidity based on hypocrisy? First, resorting to terrorism in fighting communism through supporting terrorism in the name of Islam or jehad in 1980s. Second, supporting jehadi terrorist in the name of mujahedin in defeating terrorist Taleban in 2001. US was expected not to repeat her original mistake. Third, US did not start its proxy war in Afghanistan against USSR invasion in 1979. It was started against Daud in 1973 and 1978 coup by pro Russian PDPA through siding with terrorist jehadis who fled to Pakistan. Forth, after USSR withdrawal in 1989, the US continued her covert animosity against Afghanistan by rejecting offers by Najib for a peaceful settlement. Finally, US four star generals were chased away on their b-52 like rats by a bunch of terrorist taliban on their bikes in 2021. Needless to be mentioned taliban were established in B Bhutto office in presence of US and UK ambassadors in 1994. The aim was Turkman gas pipeline by UNICOL.
