I’ve never been that impressed with Pantoja, always seemed very beatable. He barely scraped by both Brandon’s and basically just laid on them late. Never a good look in my opinion. I think Erceg edges a decision by not accepting bottom position and landing the cleaner shots on the feet.

I’d say my take was very accurate other than the decision being controversial. Erceg had the better striking, Pantoja laid on him as he always does..

Funny how people were complaining about Erceg getting a title shot but it turns out that he's actually saving this card. He's all everyone's talking about, I think everybody is extremely interested in who he is and what's going to happen. This card would be so much worse if it had been any of the other flyweights

Erceg is a club and sub kickboxer with some good wrestling and bjj. If he can keep it at range and hold off Pantoja's grappling or out grapple him, then its a nightmare for Pantoja. The biggest issue for Erceg is Pantoja bundles into the clinch/pocket trying to take your head off and from there attempts to trip with his momentum or if that fails go for the single/double let off it. That falling into the pocket is dangerous to Erceg. Thats the two styles. I personally have watched Erceg throughout the regionals and as a Pantoja fan, i am picking Erceg. But its 50/50 to me on style alone.

Erceg is a national wrestling champion with accurate striking on the feet, this is no moreno or royval where they have no power and rely on their volume to win fights. Erceg will pick his shots and be more accurate, accuracy will be the killer in this fight, and erceg will hold his own on the ground. Erceg is 28 and on a huge win streak (how many contenders on huge win streaks lose their first title fight?) pantoja is 34 and has been through a lot of wars.

I def see your points and pantoja definitely is there to be hit but I just dont think Erceg is battle tested enough for a 5 round fight in enemy territory. Maybe Erceg is him and does it but I've always felt hes never had to pull the plane out of nosedive and I just dont see it in him and considering hes UDing guys like Dvorak instead of KOing I dont think he has the power to put out Pantoja leaving only the club+sub or points path to victory. Possible but unlikely. Feel like Pantoja wins 48-47 49-46 and the narrative after is see the UFC was right to put Erceg in the fight but hes just not Champ material yet. Love the takes as always!

Erceg has had the easiest route to the title- Dvorak was on a skid, Schnell has no chin and Costa is average. Mokaev or Ulenbekov would ragdoll him
