Filipino humor does not favor Ironic humor or any Westerner trolling. It might have to do with the way the english language is taught but not placing it in context.

He wasn't joking. He said in the original video when he was explaining why he didn't like Filipino that "You can't just throw a bunch of stuff together and expect it to be good" That perfectly describes Filipino food. He had a legit reason why he didn't like it. He's just back tracking now
@bethnichols2875
@bethnichols2875 5 ай бұрын
@@marimar3161 No he was not serious, nor is he "back tracking". 🤨He, as always, is committed to the bit. Same as he was not serious when he threw Kinjabang noodles in a literal trash can, yet he actually eats them. Nor was he serious when he said his and Nikki's marriage is "on the rocks", over décor pillows on the bed no less. Nor was he serious when he convinced Nikki for over a year, that he was "colorblind". He has perfected his delivery of a straight-faced joke. It is a skill. Even as Joe mentioned, Steve would honestly not go to a Filipino buffet just to load up a plate to then throw in the trash. Anyone who actually took that seriously is only fooling themselves. It is all jokes, satirical jokes at that. Learn the difference.🤨

Hey guys- Adam from OTR. This made my day. Love you guys and my point with the clip wasn't to take it seriously- I figure like 90% of our viewers already know who you are and got the reference- but like- it's literally the only clip on KZfaq where "Filipino food is trash" is IN WRITING. It's hilarious and made a perfect drop-in. But yes- don't want to mislead anyone that you are the enemy and am happy to clarify in the comments if need be. The point is you're basically making the same point our video was trying to make (but in a very...JK News kind of way). No disrespect intended. You guys are great.

Bart, That's sisg btw. It's pig's face (Face, snout, ears) boiled, then charred on top of charcoal for the smokey flavour, then chopped into pieces, seasoned and fried sizzling on a sizzle plate. It's served with an egg and a tropical fruit called "calamansi" to cut through the fat (or lemon if you're trying it in the states). It's fatty, crunchy, chewey, acidic, spicy. It's Anthony Bourdain's favorite beer food.
@kahyeh93
@kahyeh93 6 ай бұрын
07:17 From the picture I believe that's ''Sisig''. Could be made with either pork/chicken/tofu/milk fish usually cooked with pepper, onions, garlic and served on a (extremely hot) sizzling plate; which the black plate. Then you squeeze the Calamansi on top for citrus-y flavour.

I’m Chamorro (Micronesian). We’re the native Pacific Islanders of the Mariana islands, which includes Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan, Tinian, Rota). The sauce Bart is talking about is called finadene. It consists of soy sauce, lemon juice/vinegar, onions, and hot pepper. There can be variations of the recipe. It’s great all over rice, bbq, or anything you want extra flavor on. It’s a staple in Chamorro cuisine 🌊🇲🇵🏝️🇬🇺🤙🏽

I'm Canadian (Torontonian). From my observations, how a person carries themselves is often influenced by where they grew up. In turn, this influences the music they listen to, what food they eat, how they speak, etc. It isn't always about appropriation, but more about what a person is immersed in and the neighbourhoods that they frequent.

I hear a lot of Japanese people say they don't like Filipino food but it's mostly the businessmen that travel here in the Philippines. I can kinda see where they're coming from (they also don't usually get to try the best restos anyway on their short trip here) I hear it less often with Japanese women, they tend to like the food here but I feel they're more adventurous when it comes to food in general. A lot of Filipino food is brown and oily or thick with sauce and usually heavy to eat. I don't eat it everyday (eating adobo for lunch while I type this right now lol) but in my family we usually mix it up with other cuisines
