This hits home for me, I grew up without a father. What hurts more isn't the fact he's gone, it's the fact that he's out there still and hasn't turned back for us, it's the fact that he left us and didn't come back, it's the fact that I've seen him with my own eyes until I was 7, felt his embrace close by and saw his back turn and walk away. It's the fact that the person I'd wait for everyday near the front door to come back from work to leave out of that same door without another glance and its the fact that he was my hero, he was the man I looked up to, it was the man that I expected to protect me more than anyone else. The heart break still remains, as a girl we're more attracted to the love of fathers. I didn't have that, I'm 18 now and my one goal in life is to have a family and be a family. I never cry for shit in my life except when my mom and my sister died, but tears runs down y face when steve's step son said 'you gave me your name'.. i don't know why that got into me so deep! but it does, i never have any parental issues in my life but i think you get to realize what true love is when you are matured and raised by a matured person.

I wish my dad cared about me like this. You can truly see the love he has for his family, and it is beautiful to witness such love as a family.
