It's because people fight better now, so it is way more technical. The guy in the white didn't even know to keep his hands up.

It's wild to see how the sport has evolved over the decades. I remember being 4-5 years old and watching UFC 1 2 and 3 with my dad on a VHS tape. Fights have gotten so technical now, which is entertaining and it makes it harder to know who's going to win but I do miss the days of Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock and the tournament style UFC events.

Howard fought the whole night, Jennum was a replacement for the last fight due to injury. Glad he got buried the next event with a first round fight against the polar bear
@Elsupermayan8870 5 ай бұрын
@cerebusrex-u1721 Howard only fought 1 fight before this one which ended quickly when he ko'd Roland Payne. His next fight ended before it even started when Gracie's corner threw in the towel before John McCarthy started the fight. Howard was pretty much fresh for this fight as was Jenum who stepped in as an alternate. And Jenum didn't lose to Polar Bear Paul Varlens in UFC IV, Varlens made his debut in UFC VI when he fought Cal Worshem in rd. 1 and won by ko when Varlens gave Worshem an elbow to the back of his head. Jenum fought Melton Bowen in UFC IV and won but then couldn't continue due to an injury.

Steve didn't have to work hard enough for that championship, and he lost it just as easily at the next UFC as he gained it in this one. He came in as an alternate without fighting anyone else first, so he was fresh for this fight, but Howard had already had one or two fights earlier in the evening

Nothing compares to the early days of ufc. Remember watching this on VHS back in those days.

I miss the old UFC days before Rogan and Dana. Now all the fighters do the same exact style and it’s boring as heck. I don’t care if BJJ can beat most styles if they get taken down, ground fighting is boring, I want stand up fight not grappling. This is Ultimate fighting not Ultimate submission. Bring back the karate guys, the kickboxers and ninjitsu guys and do a no grappling rule and watch it get popular af
@jinglepipple2153 5 ай бұрын
"no grappling?" bro... they already have something like that. They've had shit like that for a very long time, basically kickboxing, K1, Muay Thai, Sanda, Shuai Jiao, etc. You're not coming up with anything innovative, the opposite actually lol. And old UFC days had a lot of grappling, what the fuck are you talking about? And grappling is just a part of fighting, and the reason it is popular. UFC and MMA in general is right now more popular than fucking boxing! You want old school UFC you want LESS rules, not more. And fighting styles in MMA is pretty fucking varied. VERY varied, just because everyone has to have a little bit of knowledge of everything doesn't mean its all the same(There are still plenty of Karate and kickboxers like Adesanya, Steven Wonderboy Thompson, etc). You're on crack, bro.
@branrahman3217 5 ай бұрын
go watch boxing, kick boxing and muay Thai then.. idiot 😂
@markwilson2460 4 ай бұрын
I completely get what you are saying it's really shit watching someone hug someone's back for 3 rounds, but if it works it works and you can't fully blame them for doing it if it's allowed
@Newbtuber 3 ай бұрын
You are advocating for Kick boxing lol, there is already an avenue for that. First off, it is called the Ultimate Fighting because it encompasses all form of fight, not just striking. Otherwise it would be call Ultimate Striking. You sound like a casual so I dont think you understand what you are advocating for. If they do change it to how you want, eventually the sport will get figured out and become "boring" in your eyes again. Just like boxing, kick boxing and karate etc etc which majority goes to decision. This is just the nature of most sport as it evolves from a chaos mess like the early UFC into the modern technical UFC. Every sport is like this. The whole point of the UFC was to determine which is the best fighting style when there are no rules. What caused the UFC to become more "boring" is due to the rules which limit certain attacks which limit options. If we take rules away, such as allowing Knee to Ground opponents, suddenly grappler would be way more scared going for take down which lead to more striking. Lastly, the sport is already "popular af." What you advocate for is kick boxing and that is no where near as popular anymore.
