The iPad was announced on January 27, 2010, by Steve Jobs at an Apple press conference in San Francisco.
He later said that Apple had begun developing the iPad before the iPhone, but had temporarily shelved the effort upon realizing that its ideas would work just as well in a mobile phone. The iPad's internal codename was K48, which was revealed in the court case surrounding leaking of iPad information before launch.
Apple began taking pre-orders for the first-generation iPad on March 12, 2010.[3] The only major change to the device between its announcement and being available to pre-order was the change of the behavior of the side switch to perform either sound muting or screen rotation locking (user selectable).

Disappointed with m4 I was hoping for a breakthrough bump in performance after 2 years. Hopefully apple develops a silicon that can handle calculator app in the future.

I never owned an Apple computer device but I always enjoyed watching Steve do his thing when a new product came out. The "event" things they do now are boring and uninspiring.

@@yanghailun Yeah lol they seem to have almost forgotten about the new M4 Pro and iPadOS at WWDC today. Pretty bummed there isn’t much to look forward to.

Oh yeah, I had that keyboard with the first ipad when I purchased it in 2011. Ipad has come a long way since then, but it still has far to go for sure.

I think it was less of a Steve Jobs thing and more of a team thing. Like sure he was a visionary but so John Ive, Steve Wozniak etc in fact they had much more of a contribution in apple innovation. In 2010s and after the death of jobs many of those team members left too
