Democrats will keep control of the Senate after Arizona was called for Democrat Mark Kelly and Nevada was called for Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto over the weekend. Control of the House remains unknown, but the path for Democrats is "exceedingly narrow."

The Republicans are in denial about Trump's election lies and the violence he's provoked. They also don't want women to have equality and rights over their own body. It doesn't matter to Republicans if they take away social security, medicare etc. Worse, they don't want a Democracy. They want a dictatorship without representation. That's what's wrong with Republicans, the same as nearly half of the colonists who wanted to keep the British monarchy.

I think half is an overstatement, but: 1) Trump blew the lid off the subconscious racial anxiety of whites as US approaches that majority/minority threshold. One of the Republican motives behind the long-term campaign to demonize abortion is figuring out how to force more white women to give birth, as they were aborting at a higher rate after Roe. 2) It's no secret that a significant segment of the early white invaders were religious cultists. Strong authoritarian genes. Trump even declared himself "the Chosen One," which ought to be blasphemy, but my opinion is there is a predisposition in the DNA of a segment of the population to just go brainless in the presence of a certain type of arrogant bully.

@@jje8182 Iowa actually has an independent commission and a rule that you cannot split counties. Its political geography is just set up in such a way that Republicans lead narrowly in three of the four districts. A big enough blue wave could have swept them all away like it did in 2018.

I saw Dr. Jill Biden at the World Series in Pennsylvania. Fox News was so rude they did not even mention her being there but I saw her there cheering on the Phillies. She was born in Pennsylvania. Va la, the Democratic senatorial candidate won the race in Penn., even tho he had a stroke just a little before voters went to the polls. If they had had a beefy majority like they (and the press) were expecting it would have gone smoothly. But since McCarthy will only have a majority slimmer than the one Democrats won in 2020 (which is saying a lot) it is going to be pure chaos. He is going to have to reconcile the moderates like Fitzpatrick with the extremists like Greene, a task that may be too herculean for him.

They reveal that companies are using inflation as an excuse to make even bigger profits. They are making the inflation worse for consumers by jacking up prices even more and hoping regular people won’t know that a chunk of that higher price is due only to corporate greed. Elected officials don’t have control over that, either.

We are the lowest inflation country, only 8%, well if you don't have it, it seems like a lot, but in many countries it is MUCH, MUCH WORSE!
