I was a small child when this show was on in the late 70s, my Granny an I loved to watch this show an eat homemade ice cream, such lovely memories, my Granny past away many years ago , I'm sure if she was here today watching this silly funny awesome show she'd be laughing out loud with me. Thanks Carol,vickie, harvey, an Tim, for the wonderful memories

He passed away this week. RIP Lyle He was also Steve in Wonder woman. He was much more than a sexy man! He was a amazing man.

I can remember my parents ROCKING with laughter on this one.. This was just as CHARO had really HIT big and was on every talk show.. being just like this.. it was the perfect send up at the perfect time.. so well written.. and then stand back, let Carol tear it up!!

The writers had Carol say what Charo actually said. It's brilliant. Lyle is perfect as Mark. His torso is drop dead sexy. Woot! Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme were fine on the show as long as they didn't sing. Brilliant skit and don't forget Vicki Lawrence.

Actually it was "Charo" a Spanish singer and guitar player, that's who she is imitating. She's pushing 70 today and she looks almost the same with the same hairstyle and body. She went on The Love Boat, Fantasy Island and TV game shows a lot.

Carol Burnett (and whoever wrote this bit) was particularly brilliant in her spoof of Charo, especially highlighting how she uses her accent and lack of command of English as a way to get away with smarmy jokes and references.

Actually, Lyle Waggoner left the Carol Burnett show and starred in Wonder Woman the next season. He wanted to advance his career. He played one character (Steve) in the first two seasons when the show was set in WWII, then his own son Steve Jr.) when the show fast forwarded to the (then) present, late 70s

I JUST saw an interview with Mark Spitz on the news -- he was talking about his mustache and how the Russians were very interested...I had to stoke the fireplace die to rolling power outages ( were keeping our heat very low) ... Ugh. Im so thankful I found this!!! Loved this show back in the day!!!!

I used to watch this as a kid, reminds me of how back then the optimal man's physique was considered to be slim and toned. Kids used to make fun of "muscle heads" or men with muscles that are too large unlike today.

Steve kept pronouncing Harvey's name "wrong". But the way Steve kept saying Ganif, that's actually Yiddish for Thief. So, Harvey being the swimmer's manager was a thief. A nice trick on words there.
